2/29/24 South Carolina names Furrey as its receivers coach, 3rd person to hold spot since December. South Carolina has hired former NFL player and assistant coach Mike Furrey as its wide receivers coach, the third person to hold that position since the season ended. Furrey, who led the NFC with 98 catches in 2006 with the Detroit Lions, was most recently head coach the past two years at Limestone College, an NCAA Division II school in Gaffney. On Thursday, South Carolina's board of trustees approved a two-year contract that will pay Furrey $425,000 a season.

3/07/22 NCAA D-II programs tabs recent Chicago Bears assistant for head coaching position. Limestone College, an NCAA Division II program in South Carolina, has both dipped into its past and the NFL to find its new head coach. On Monday, Limestone introduced Mike Furrey as the Saints’ new head coach. But it’s a bit of a reintroduction of Furrey, who guided the Saints’ program through the 2016-17 seasons before he accepted a job in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.

12/07/21 Bears receiver Darnell Mooney unfazed by more attention from opponents' defenses. In the past three games Robinson has missed, Bears quarterbacks targeted Mooney 31 times, and he finished with 15 receptions for 271 yards and a touchdown. Bears wide receivers coach Mike Furrey has watched as Mooney has grown each week with more experience. Mooney’s confidence has grown as well, and he’s starting to understand the game more, beyond just the playbook.

10/30/21 Coach Matt Nagy remains in COVID-19 protocol and will miss Bears' game against 49ers. Six players have been moved to the reserve/COVID-19 list at some point since Oct. 14, while Nagy, receivers coach Mike Furrey and another support staff member have also tested positive this month. On the plus side, outside linebacker Robert Quinn, inside linebacker Caleb Johnson and offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson have all been removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list this week. Damien Williams was also activated back to the 53-man roster on Oct. 23.

9/07/21 Hub Arkush: Breshad Perriman gives Bears even more speed. But does he make them better?. I have not, I have not,” wide receivers coach Mike Furrey said. I think it’s probably pretty rare for anybody to have three guys listed at 4.2, a legit 4.2. Yeah, we’ve got a pretty good track team, a good 4-by-100 for sure, and a good coach in 12 (Allen Robinson), I’m sure he’ll coach them up.

1/18/21 Setting the Bears QB Table for 2021. Fitzpatrick is actually tight with Bears receiver coach Mike Furrey, but would never fit the style of offense used by the Bears at season's end and might want more than their cap space dictates. Winston is high risk and high reward and not someone a coach and GM would want if they're under a win-or-else mandate. With no chance at Prescott, it comes down to Trubisky, Taylor and Newton.
