5/06/25 Big Additions Mean Big Questions at Receiver for Packers. The wide receiver room has been restocked. Matthew Golden became the team's first receiver taken in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. Savion Williams was added in the third round. There were sky-high expectations at this time last year for Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, including the belief that each could be a featured receiver on a given week.

4/23/25 Green Bay Packers Projected to Make Major Trade for Ohio State Star. The last time that the Green Bay Packers selected a wide receiver in the first round, they picked Javon Walker with the 20th overall pick in the 2002 draft. As the 2025 draft is just around the corner, NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter has Green Bay making a splash at wide receiver. Reuter is calling for the Packers to strike a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to select Ohio State star Emeka Egbuka.

3/18/25 Packers Select Receiver in First Round of Mel Kiper's ESPN Mock Draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper knows the history. The Green Bay Packers haven't drafted a receiver in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. “This seems like a good year to break the streak,” Kiper wrote in selecting Ohio State Emeka Egbuka for the Packers in his new mock draft at ESPN.com.

3/14/25 Packers 2025 Draft Board: With The Top FA Receivers Signed, Could The Packers Draft A Receiver 23rd Overall?. GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers decided not to make a move on any of the top available wide receivers this off-season signaling that there may be one or two receivers that they like in next month's draft. The Packers have not drafted a wide receiver in the first round since they selected Javon Walker 20th overall in the 2002 NFL Draft but with Christian Watson expected to miss most of the 2025 season and Romeo Doubs dealing with concussion issues in 2024, they may decide that the 2025 NFL draft is the time to break the 23-year streak. Here are the top five receivers that make the most sense for the Packers. Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka: Egbuka finished his college career

4/16/23 How the Packers' 5 draft classes under Brian Gutekunst have fared in Green Bay. The Green Bay Packers have been criticized for their conservative approach to the NFL Draft long before Brian Gutekunst took over as the team's general manager in January 2018. With the franchise last using a first-round pick on a wide receiver in 2003, selecting Javon Walker from Florida State at No. 20 overall, the league's annual draft has been a sore spot for some fans for nearly two decades. As Gutekunst is busy preparing for his sixth draft as the Packers' GM — this year's draft will be held April 27-29 — here's a look at how his first five classes have contributed in Green Bay.

3/21/22 NFL Draft Bible Mock: Packers Use Both First-Rounders on Receivers. GREEN BAY, Wis. The Green Bay Packers haven’t drafted a receiver in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. That’s 20 years.

4/28/21 1. Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota. After Packers GM Brian Gutekunst punted on the deepest wide receiver draft in NFL history a year ago, when 36 receivers went overall (and six went in the first round) — but none went to the Packers, could this be the year that they add a wideout in Round 1? If they do, it’d mark the first time since Florida State’s Javon Walker was the team’s first-round pick in 2002.

4/21/21 Would a Packers' first-round receiver after all this time be set up to fail?. The longer the Green Bay Packers go without drafting a receiver in the first round, the harder it will be on the one they finally take in that position -- whether it's next week, next year or next decade. It’s too late for it to be any other way. Most of the receivers worthy of consideration at the top of the NFL draft were still in diapers the last time the Packers picked one in the first round (Javon Walker, 2002).

2/23/21 First-Round Receiver? Yes, Says Latest PFF Mock. GREEN BAY, Wis. The Green Bay Packers drafting a wide receiver in the first round is practically a once-in-a-generation kind of thing. They haven’t done it since 2002, when they grabbed Javon Walker at No.

6/27/20 Packers take stud Big 10 WR in Draft Wire's way too early 2021 mock draft. The Green Bay Packers didn’t take a wide receiver in the 2020 draft, but maybe Brian Gutekunst’s big investment at the position will finally arrive in 2021. Draft Wire’s way too early mock draft for next year predicts the Packers will use a late pick in the first round on Minnesota receiver Rashod Bateman, one of the top returning pass-catchers in the country. The Packers haven’t taken a wide receiver in the first round of a draft since drafting Javon Walker at No.

5/24/20 Giants select Javon Walker in 2002 NFL re-draft. Instead, Gagnon has the Giants selecting Florida State wide receiver Javon Walker, who went 20th that year to Green Bay. What actually happened: Traded up, drafted TE Jeremy Shockey 14th overall Where he was actually picked: 20th overall by the Green Bay Packers The New York Giants were also pretty solid at offensive tackle in these days, but they did lose a pass-catcher when Shockey went to Jacksonville in the top 10.

4/17/20 TCU's Jalen Reagor a multiple threat in the mold of Tyreek Hill. Latest in a Packers Prospects series looking at players Green Bay could select in the April 23-25 NFL draft. GREEN BAY - Javon Walker remains the answer to a trivia question as the last wide receiver the Green Bay Packers selected in the first round of the NFL draft — way back in 2002 out of Florida State. The Packers have found luck in expending draft capital at the position after the first round, notably with second-round picks Greg Jennings (2006), Jordy Nelson (2008), Randall Cobb (2011) and...

4/14/20 POD Community Mock: With the 30th pick, the Packers select.... With the 30th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Patrick Queen, linebacker from LSU. I originally went into this draft wanting the best wide receiver available for the Packers, but after doing some research on our SB Nation’s sister site Acme Packing Company and discovering the Packers haven’t picked a WR in Round 1 since Javon Walker in 2002, I went in another direction. Also, with the depth at WR in this draft I can get a good one in Round 2.
