7/02/25 Anticipated Headlines Before Bucs' 2025 Season. Like when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers demolished the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium, the instantly-produced cover of the local paper, the Union-Tribune just said, "Bucs Win!" Or when a duck famously camped out on the Raymond James Stadium field during the action in a blowout win over Carolina, in which rookie sensation Bucky Irving accounted for 190 yards from scrimmage, the Tampa Bay Times declared that, "Everything's ducky for Bucky Irving." The Buccaneers are currently on hiatus – at least the players and coaches are – as the NFL takes one last extended break before ramping back up for training camp later this month.

6/30/25 Top 50 Cal Pros: No. 23 -- Nnamdi Asomugha, Hot Corner on Defense. Why we ranked him here: Taken with the 31st pick in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders, Asomugha was immediately plugged in at cornerback. Asomugha was a three-time Pro Bowl pick, a first-team AP All-Pro in 2008 and 2010, and a second-team choice in 2006 and 2009.

6/14/25 The Top 100 Plays of the First Quarter of the Century: 91-95. Setting the stage: Long before there was Odell Beckham Jr., there was Oronde Gadsden. Unfortunately, his ridiculous one-handed catch against the Oakland Raiders in the 2000 playoffs was a small consolation on an otherwise dreary day for the Dolphins, who sustained a 27-0 loss one week after their thrilling 23-17 overtime victory against the Indianapolis Colts. It already was a 27-0 score when Gadsden made his remarkable play, which he almost topped with another incredible one-handed catch over the middle against the New York Jets in 2002. The play: Two series after Oakland made it 27-0, the Dolphins faced a second-and-17 from their own 28 after Jay Fiedler was sacked for a 7-yard loss.

5/15/25 Buccaneers legend to be placed in Bucs Ring of Honor. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the early 2000s are rightfully recognized as one of the greatest defenses in NFL history. Monte Kiffin's group was absolutely loaded with talent at all levels, and they proved to be an unstoppable force as they dominated their competition before eventually eviscerating the Oakland Raiders by a score of 48-21 in Super Bowl 37. It was the first Super Bowl victory for the Tampa Bay Buccanees and their fans. The majority of defensive players from that championship team have since received their due respect, including Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, John Lynch and Ronde Barber, each of whom has not only been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but the Bucs' Ring of Honor as well.

3/21/25 Former Raider Jon Gruden Wants to Return to the NFL. The Raiders franchise have had their share of well know head coaches. The Silver and Black have also always given opportunities to multiple coaches throughout their franchise's history. Now one former head coach wants another opportunity at being a head coach in the National Football League. Former Oakland Raiders and Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is still holding out hope that he can once again become a head coach in the league.

3/07/25 Dolphins to release edge rusher Quinton Bell, report says. Edge rusher Quinton Bell, a restricted free agent who joined the Dolphins last season and played reasonably well, has been informed he won't receive a tender from the team, according to an ESPN report, meaning he'll become a free agent Wednesday, the first day of the new league year. Bell, 28, totaled 27 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble while appearing in all 17 games, mostly on special teams. Bell, a 2019 seventh-round pick by the Oakland Raiders out of Prairie View A&M, played a career-best 257 snaps (24 percent of the Dolphins' defensive snaps) from scrimmage last season while playing 372 snaps (84 percent) on special teams.

Feliciano, who was set to become a free agent at the start of the new league year, called it a career following the conclusion of his 10th NFL season. 2/24/25 From the Vault: Rod Woodson helped jumpstart a Super Bowl run with 98-yard pick six against Denver Broncos. The only thing in the way of Woodson on his way to the end zone was Denver's high altitude. "Once I got to the end zone, I realized I couldn't breathe because there was no oxygen up that far in Denver," he joked. It was arguably Woodson's biggest play made during his tenure with the Oakland Raiders, a team he admired since he was a child. In fact, the name of the first Pop Warner team he ever played for in Fort Wayne, Indiana was the PAL Raiders, translating into an early fandom for the team that had stars like Ken Stabler, Willie Brown and Jack Tatum.

2/18/25 Christian Gonzalez's five-word response to Jon Gruden jab at Patriots. New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez is just as smooth off the field as he is on it. “I used to hate the Patriots,” Gruden said on the “Gruden Goes Long” podcast. Gonzalez responded, “That was before my time.” Gruden was referring to the 2001 divisional round of the playoffs when he coached the Oakland Raiders in an overtime loss to the Patriots.

2/13/25 Raiders Star Maxx Crosby Could Welcome Trade to Packers. Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby has never asked to be traded. Importantly, Crosby, a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders, would find some friendly faces in the Green Bay locker room. Crosby was a teammate with running back Josh Jacobs for five seasons.

2/12/25 Bears insider reveals chances of reunion with projected $70 million 9-time Pro Bowler. Khalil Mack has accomplished a lot in his legendary National Football League career. Selected fifth overall by the Oakland Raiders in 2014, Mack has registered 107.5 sacks, 185 quarterback hits and 142 tackles-for-loss over 11 seasons with the Raiders, Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers. As great as Mack has been in the regular season, however, he has yet to find success in the postseason.

2/08/25 REPORT: Was Rice to the Raiders the Best Free Agency Move Ever?. The Las Vegas Raiders have a history unmatched by nearly any other team in the National Football League. It is a history filled with Super Bowls, legendary coaches and legendary players. This was the case in 2001 when the then-Oakland Raiders signed veteran wide receiver Jerry Rice, who was near the end of his career.

2/03/25 Rich Gannon shares incredible story behind why Patriots traded him. Rich Gannon might be best known in New England as the quarterback for the Oakland Raiders team that fell to the Patriots in the 2001 AFC Divisional Round, aka the "Tuck Rule Game." But the former NFL MVP actually began his professional career with the Patriots. WATCH ANYTIME FOR FREE Stream NBC10 Boston news for free, 24/7, wherever you are. That's right: New England selected Gannon -- a record-setting quarterback at the University of Delaware -- in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1987 NFL Draft. But the Patriots ended up trading Gannon six days later to the Minnesota Vikings for a pair of draft picks in a move that seems head-scratching in hindsight. So, what prompted Gannon's trade?

2/01/25 Ranking 3 best Khalil Mack landing spots in 2025 NFL free agency. Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher Khalil Mack has been playing in the NFL for 11 years now, and he remains one of the most feared pass rushers in the league. Mack has been in the league since 2014, when he was drafted with the No. 5 overall pick by the then-Oakland Raiders. Mack's quick rise from draft pick to superstar was even more impressive considering the fact that he wasn't exactly a big-time college player, at least in terms of where he went. Mack was a 2-star linebacker in the 2009 recruiting class and ended up signing with the Buffalo Bulls, which has been part of the MAC since 1999.

1/27/25 The refs didn’t steal a Super Bowl trip from the Bills. The Chiefs’ excellence did.

Some will insist debatable calls were to blame for another heartbreaker for Buffalo. But they have to contend with a great footballing dynasty every year

From 1967 through 1975, the Oakland Raiders were the most successful team in professional football … in the regular season. They compiled a record of 95-24-7, and that winning percentage of .798 was a full 70 percentage points higher than the second-best team, the Dallas Cowboys. Those Raiders were packed with future Hall of Famers, and they had John Madden, one of the NFL’s best coaches, for most of that span.

And throughout that time, they were stopped from winning the big one by several different dynasties. They lost Super Bowl II to the Green Bay Packers, and were crossed off in successive seasons in the playoffs by the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers – two more all-time teams. Oakland’s 7-8 postseason record tended to render everything else irrelevant. It wasn’t until 1976, when the Raiders went 13-1 in the regular season and poleaxed the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI, that they finally got that albatross of their backs.

1/17/25 Are the Eagles the most physical team in football? 'You could see it on the tape' against the Packers. The NFL is never going back to the days when the mere sight of Jack Tatum frightened the bejesus out of opposing receivers. When Tatum roamed the free safety position for the Oakland Raiders, the deep middle of the field was an enter-at-your-own-risk zone that most feared and some did actually avoid.
