11/25/24 Bears' Matt Eberflus just gave dumbest answer possible for reason behind failed challenge. While Cairo Santos tries to figure out what went wrong, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams revealed the basics of his postgame chat with Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell. Eberflus said the length of the play made the key difference for the challenge, according to a post on X by Brendan Sugrue. Matt Eberflus says he threw the challenge flag on the Jordan Addison 69-yard play because it was “explosive.”

11/25/24 Vikings expected Bears to do more to clean up FG protection. The Packers identified an issue with the Bears' field goal operation in Week 11 that led to a block on a game-winning try by Cairo Santos and the Bears didn't eliminate it heading into Sunday's game against the Vikings.

9/17/24 Should Bears kick themselves for passing on Klint Kubiak as their OC?. Scoring 18.5 points per game through two weeks, Bears fans aren’t overly excited about the team’s offense. They have just one touchdown on the season, while setting up Cairo Santos for five field goals. Because they brought in the elite likes of Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, Rome Odunze and Caleb Williams, fans are expecting much more out of the offense....

9/06/24 Why Bears Could Be Lone NFC North Unbeaten After Week 1. With the Green Bay Packers about to open play against Philadelphia in Brazil Friday night, it's time to take stock of the NFC North. Most preseason predictions about the division agree on the Lions, then the Packers, then the Bears and finally the Vikings. Oddmakers have seen it this way since the end of April. It's no different in a roundtable of the On SI publishers within the NFC North. How they start the season might differ from team to team. Based on the severity of the challenge, it might not be shocking if the Bears come out of the first week of games as the only unbeaten team in the NFC North. The first to represent his country ???? The story of Cairo Santos' NFL journey is worth your

7/23/24 All NFC North Team: Cairo Santos Stands Well Above Divsion's Kickers. The great mystery about special teams this season in the NFL is the impact of the kickoff rule change. The Bears feel like they're ahead of the game from the kicking aspect of it because of Cairo Santos' abilities to place the ball. Rookie punter Tory Taylor also has the ability to kick off. The Bears are getting a bargain because his average per year right now rests 17th, not even in the top half of the league at $3.9 million.

3/08/24 Bears re-sign longest-tenured active player to one-year deal. Kicker Cairo Santos and punter Trenton Gill are already set on multi-year deals, but Friday Chicago avoided watching their long snapper hit free agency, re-signing Patrick Scales to a one-year deal.

12/20/23 Soldier Field 'saved my career': How Cairo Santos got back on track in Chicago. Four years into his Bears career, it's easy to take Cairo Santos' reliability for granted. After the team cut Robbie Gould in 2016, they had Connor Barth and his sub-75% hit rate, Eddy Pineiro and his hot-and-cold streaks, and of course Cody Parkey and the doink that still rings regularly on social media. Santos has taken the drama out of one of the more dramatic plays in the game. As it turns out, Chicago did the same for Santos, too.

12/17/23 Matt Eberflus and Luke Getsy cost the Bears a game. Everything that is the 2023 Bears was on display Sunday. Please don't tell me that, at 5-9, the Bears still have a chance at the postseason. Head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy did their players a disservice Sunday – Eberflus by going for it twice on fourth down rather than having Cairo Santos attempt field goals and Getsy by harnessing the imagination and brain power of plankton to call plays. Justin Fields is a little farther down on the blame list, thanks to an offensive line that couldn't handle the Browns' pass rush.

12/06/23 It was far from perfect. But there was a lot to love in the Chicago Bears' Week 12 win against the Minnesota Vikings.. Cairo Santos' game-winning field goal Monday night was a gimme, a 30-yard tap-in that finished the Chicago Bears' 12-10 victory against the Minnesota Vikings. From the right hash, with a running clock, Santos set himself up. Against zone coverage and facing a four-man rush, Fields kept his poise in the pocket. Moore broke in.

12/05/23 Justin Fields delivers late for Chicago Bears. Brad Biggs' 10 thoughts on the win — their 1st vs. an NFC North foe in more than 2 years.. You can't make any sweeping conclusions from the result Monday night at U.S. Bank Stadium after Cairo Santos' 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining lifted the Bears to a 12-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings — especially if you're resisting weekly referendums on the coach, the quarterback and others. But, boy, everyone involved needed this outcome.
