Because of that, he was named to The Athletic's NFL 50 under 40 list, which consists of “the movers and shakers” within the NFL's ecosystem. 1/09/25	Broncos QB coach Davis Webb made the playoffs three times in Buffalo and now will try to help rookie QB Bo Nix win there against his old team. The first time Davis Webb experienced the NFL playoffs as a player, he was a member of the Buffalo Bills. In fact, Webb backed up Josh Allen for three seasons from 2019-21 and the Bills were in the playoffs all three of those years. Sean Payton did at one point deep into a February stuffed full of coaching interviews. Then 28-year-old Davis Webb showed up at Denver's training facility for a meeting with Payton and general manager George Paton about the quarterbacks coach job and the Payton almost caught and released one too many times. “You get into this routine after an interview,” Payton said recently. To have watched Davis Webb play as a true freshman for Texas Tech is to be surprised that just ten years later he has exchanged his helmet for a whistle. Fresh out of Prosper, Texas, where he was a tall, gangly, dual-threat, 4-star quarterback, Webb in the second half of his 2013 freshman season for the Red Raiders had six games of at least 300 yards, including 415 against Iowa State, 462 against West Virginia, 425 on 45 of 71 passing against Oklahoma State, and 4 touchdowns with zero interceptions and 403 yards in a win against Arizona State to be named the Holiday Bowl MVP. Not exactly a traditional fork in the road, mind you, but Webb hoped to make the jump into coaching.
