9/02/25 Twins not expecting starter David Festa to return this season. The Minnesota Twins' potentially crowded rotation suddenly looks a lot less packed. While the Twins are still expecting ace Pablo Lopez, out since early June with a shoulder injury, to return this weekend, which will give them six starters, they optioned Mick Abel to Triple-A on Monday and on Tuesday announced that David Festa — out with shoulder inflammation — is not expected to return this season. Festa, who made a rehab start for Triple-A St. Paul on Aug. 28, had symptoms recur during his last bullpen day, Rocco Baldelli said Tuesday.

8/29/25 Twins' Pablo Lopez nearing return from injury. With Minnesota Twins star pitcher Pablo Lopez wanting to return this season, the latest news coming out of the ball club could point in that direction of that happening. As some fans of the Twins look ahead to the offseason due to the disappointing season, Lopez has made it known that he wants to return, despite the lost year. Lopez is slated to make another rehab start at the Triple-A level, which would mark the third and “likely final” time, according to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. “Pablo López (shoulder) is expected to make his third, and likely final, Triple-A rehab start Sunday in Toledo,” Gleeman wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

8/20/25 Twins' Pablo Lopez to begin rehab as trio of starters progress toward return. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Minnesota Twins still hadn't announced who would be pitching for them a day later in their series finale against the Athletics, but they had made their pitching plans clear for Triple-A St. Paul, where Saints fans will be treated to a double dose of rehabbing major leaguers Thursday. Pablo Lopez will make his long-awaited first rehab start for the Saints on Thursday and will be followed to the mound by Simeon Woods Richardson, who will make his second rehab appearance. The plan for Lopez, who has been out since suffering a Grade 2 teres major strain on June 3, is to throw three innings or 45 pitches, whichever comes first, head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said.

8/19/25 Five things to watch over the final six weeks of the Twins' season. The Minnesota Twins' trade deadline binge was an acknowledgement of reality: This team isn't making the playoffs. But though there won't be much need for scoreboard watching over the final six weeks of the season, there's still plenty to pay attention to. That being said, here are five storylines to watch during the season's final six weeks: ADVERTISEMENT What will injured starters do? Simeon Woods Richardson, who is building back from a parasite, started a rehab game on Friday. Pablo Lopez (teres major strain) is inching closer to a rehab assignment of his own. And David Festa (shoulder) is still hoping to return this year and “finish the season strong.” Getting those three back, particularly

8/18/25 Shipley: It's time for the Twins' big draft picks to turn it up. There were an announced 80,000 fans or so, combined, at the Twins' four-game series against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field last weekend and they all got a good, close look at the team's future. The young Twins left in the wake of the team's trade deadline purge did manage to stave off a sweep with a blowout victory over their American League Central overlords on Sunday, so that's something — if not quite enough to make whatever vision the team has for the future make complete sense. Now, instead of relying on matriculating prospects to adequately fill gaps between proven veterans, the Twins are counting on the young guys — none of whom have shown they can do it consistently — to be the proven producers. If they can, the Twins might have a chance to win because of a Cadillac rotation led by Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober.

8/15/25 Twins star pitcher explains decision to return in 2025. Despite the Minnesota Twins being virtually out of the playoff picture, Pablo Lopez still wants back in. After being shut down in early June due to injury, Lopez is aiming to return to the mound this season. In a recent interview, the Twins pitcher says that he wants to be able to pitch late into the season to maintain his usual offseason routine and perform at a satisfactory level for him. Lopez went through a live batting session yesterday, his first experience against live batters since the injury.
