The Arizona Diamondbacks signed former New York Mets relief pitcher Jeff Brigham to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training, the Triple-A Reno Aces announced on Saturday. Brigham will be 33 years old next season and joins the organization with 90 career major league appearances between the Miami Marlins and Mets. The right-hander tossed 37.2 innings for New York in 2023, producing 5.26 ERA while striking out 10 batters per nine innings. Journeyman relief pitcher Jeff Brigham had given up four runs in the eighth inning as he walked and hit batters, and added a bevy of wild pitches, to turn a much-needed Mets win into an all-too typical 2023 defeat. Wednesday night, right-hander Jeff Brigham was ejected from Triple-A Syracuse's game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after a sticky-stuff check. He's the fourth pitcher in the Mets organization this year to be ejected for sticky substances.
