After finishing the 2024 season on the Vikings' bench, quarterback Daniel Jones signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. Jones joined Minnesota's practice squad halfway through last season following his release from the Giants. When it became evident this offseason that the Vikings would not be re-signing Sam Darnold, Jones would have had an opportunity to compete against 2024 No. 10 overall pick J.J. McCarthy. Daniel Jones and Riley Leonard are lined up to spend the 2025 NFL season together in the Indianapolis Colts' quarterback room. On the surface, that doesn't appear to be remarkable. But when you dig deeper, it gets pretty crazy. Back in 2019, the New York Giants picked Jones No. 6 overall out of Duke. On Saturday, the Colts drafted Leonard in the sixth round. And their pedigrees aren't really all that different. Both began their college careers at Duke. Jones finished his there, too, while Leonard ended at Notre Dame. The New York Giants will have a new starting quarterback in 2025 after the team parted ways with Daniel Jones in 2024 and signed Russell Wilson this offseason. If the Giants want to put Wilson is the best position possible to succeed, they've got to upgrade the group of pass-catchers. Malik Nabers is a surefire star, but Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton are only decent depth pieces, and Jaylin Hyatt and Theo Johnson remain unproven. If the Giants want an upgrade at tight end, they should give the Baltimore Ravens a call for Mark Andrews, who appears to be on the trade block. The latest quarterback prospect reportedly set to visit East Rutherford is Louisville signal caller Tyler Shough, whom ESPN's Adam Schefter reported is visiting the Giants team facility on Wednesday. Shough, 6-foot-5 and 219 pounds, is a draft prospect who has been quietly rising up several big boards.
