7/03/25 SF Giants' Doval blows save in ninth, secures win in 10th to snap losing streak. It will not go down as a save for Camilo Doval. Not after he blew the Giants' two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth. “I'll tell you what: I probably was (as) impressed with him as I've been all year,” Melvin said after the Giants' 6-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night at Chase Field. Doval took the mound in the bottom of the ninth with San Francisco leading 5-3, positioned to finish what had, up to that point, been an excellent night for the bullpen.

7/02/25 SF Giants' Doval blows save in ninth, secures win in 10th to snap losing streak. It was not the most sustainable formula for a win, but the Giants will take anything they can get amidst their worst stretch of the season. Camilo Doval blew a save in the bottom of the ninth inning by allowing a game-tying, two-run homer to All-Star starter Ketel Marte, but immediately rebounded to secure a 6-5 win by pitching a scoreless 10th inning to snap the Giants' four-game losing streak. For Doval, it was his first time pitching two innings since July 14, 2022.

6/29/25 How These Two Stars Made the San Francisco Giants Bullpen MLB's Best. In the 2024 season, the San Francisco Giants had a middle-of-the-road bullpen, one that ranked exactly 15th in MLB in reliever ERA with a mark of 3.96. Fast forward half of a season, and no team in MLB has gotten better run prevention from its relievers than the Giants, whose bullpen has posted an ERA of 2.81 as of June 29. Only the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs are within even half a run, at 3.30 and 3.31 respectively, and even then just barely. In 2024, longtime closer Camilo Doval struggled in the role, posting a 4.88 ERA as he simply could not manage to keep his walk rate at a manageable level.

6/26/25 SF Giants' frustrations extend beyond loss to Marlins after three batters plunked. SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants' frustrations on Wednesday night were twofold. There was, of course, the 8-5 loss. They pushed the game to extras with two runs in the bottom of the ninth only for the Miami Marlins to counter with four runs in the 10th inning against closer Camilo Doval. They're now facing the possibility of being swept at home by one of baseball's worst teams. Losses happen. But the Giants are also displeased with the bevy of beanballs they've absorbed in recent days. With Casey Schmitt, Jung Hoo Lee and Dominic Smith getting plunked tonight, the Giants have been hit nine times in their last nine games. Schmitt, who's already filling in for an injured Matt Chapman , had to undergo

6/21/25 Red Sox reactions: Rally falls short as costly error, weak offense prove too much to overcome. 1) The Red Sox avoided being shutout for the second time in their last four games when they rallied in the ninth, stringing together three consecutive hits against Giants closer Camilo Doval, then capitalizing on a stolen base and a throwing error by catcher Andrew Knizner. The ninth also marked the first time all day that the Sox had gotten a baserunner past second base and they had the potential tying run on first base in the the final inning.

6/03/25 Doval blows rare save as SF Giants fall to Padres in 10 innings. Camilo Doval blew his first save since re-entering the closer role and allowed his first earned runs since April 7 as the Giants fell to the San Diego Padres, 3-2, in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Oracle Park. The blown save erased a great start by Landen Roupp, who pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings and lowered his ERA on the season to 3.18. Heliot Ramos gave the Giants a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run shot to center field, a drive he admired for several seconds before flipping his bat and beginning to jog the bases.

5/29/25 How Is Giants Bullpen Order Affected by Changing Closers?. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the San Francisco Giants made the change to put Camilo Doval back into the closer role amid Ryan Walker's struggles, but they made it official after Wednesday's loss. Last year, when Doval was going through the worst season of his career that resulted in a 4.88 ERA and demotion to the minors at one point, Walker looked like a future star with his sizzling 1.91 ERA. With the closer role now being changed, how that impacts the Giants remains to be seen, but it does suggest there will be some adjustments to how other relievers are going to be used. Nick San Miguel of Around the Foghorn took a look at the bullpen and how everyone might be utilized, listing who he believes will be the high-leverage guys and when each arm might get deployed.

5/26/25 That’s What I Like: Camilo Doval, Carson Kelly, Jake Meyers. Happy Memorial Day, America-dwellers! If you're like our good-natured Canadian friend Marmos, you may not know that we 'Mericuhns celebrate veterans by crushing Coors cans during boat parades. Indeed, plural parades. Sometimes there's even brewskis in those cans, although in this economy, there's a non-zero chance we're just digging them out of the trash of Coachella. Yacht rock at it's finest!  Have a great and safe holiday, and here's my gift to you -- some help for your fantasy team!

5/18/25 Giants Superstar Reliever Has Returned to Form, Will He Become Closer Again?. The San Francisco Giants are right in the thick of the National League playoff picture, climbing their way near the top of the divisional and wild card standings and finding new ways to win games. In either scenario though, a constant has emerged to help shut games down when it's needed the most, and it's one of the things San Francisco missed most during their floundering 2024 campaign. Giants reliever Camilo Doval has done more than just get back to his All-Star form, he's having the best season of his career since being moved from the closer role in favor of Ryan Walker.

4/24/25 How Adames, Giants rallied around Doval for series win vs. Brewers. With the Giants seeking a comeback win for a series victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, Camilo Doval had thrown five consecutive balls in the top of the ninth inning. Doval, whose struggles last season were well-documented, was attempting to secure his third save in as many appearances. With a potential setback looming, shortstop Willy Adames jogged to the mound, joined by third baseman Matt Chapman and catcher Patrick Bailey, to offer Doval some words of encouragement. The result was a 6-5 win, bumping San Francisco to a 17-9 record and series win over Adames' former team.

3/31/25 Walker's injury opens seamless return for Giants' closer Doval. In the opener, the Giants saw what can happen when you're without your closer. Three days later, Bob Melvin was without his guy, so he turned to a setup man who was an All-Star two years ago. Camilo Doval breezed through the ninth, picking up his second save since he was pulled from the ninth inning and sent to Triple-A last August. Closer Ryan Walker was unavailable for the final two games of the Reds series because of back pain.

3/14/25 Why Melvin believes Doval in a 'great place' entering 2025 season. Giants pitcher Camilo Doval has created an interesting predicament over his past few outings. The Giants want Doval to spend his entire spring working on the little things, like holding runners at first and being quick to the plate. The intricacies of the game will have to be mastered on the back fields at Scottsdale Stadium during workouts, and thus far, the Giants are thrilled with how Doval has attacked that process. Coming off a disappointing season that cost him his job as San Francisco's closer, Doval has been locked in from the first day of camp.

2/17/25 San Francisco Giants Former All-Star Closer Taking Step Forward in Spring Training. The San Francisco Giants are fully engulfed in Spring Training, and something is different with their former All-Star closer. Camilo Doval was one of the best relievers in the MLB during his first three seasons. In those years, the right-handed pitcher made 166 appearances, finished 120 games, recorded 69 saves, threw 162.1 innings, allowed just 124 hits, struck out 204 batters and had an ERA of 2.77. The Giants thought they found their closer of the future.

2/15/25 SF Giants maintaining faith in Doval despite last year's lows. Camilo Doval understands where he stands in the bullpen's pecking order. Doval experienced the nadir of his major-league career last year. The Giants, though, are maintaining their confidence. “When you get humbled, you have to look at things a little differently and I think he does,” said manager Bob Melvin.

2/12/25 Giants manager Bob Melvin names 2025 closer, and it's not Camilo Doval. There was some news out of Scottsdale, Arizona on Wednesday, as San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin announced his team's closer for 2025. It's not Camilo Doval, who held the job at times in 2024; the Giants will turn to Ryan Walker to close games to kick off the regular season, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. The right-handed Walker was drafted by the Giants back in 2018 and has had a role on San Francisco's pitching staff since 2023.

1/18/25 San Francisco Giants' Reliever Reflects on 'Dream Come True' Moment. With much of the talk this offseason around the hope that All-Star closer Camilo Doval will return to form this season, the San Francisco Giants did have closer last season. Ryan Walker slid into the closer role after the Giants optioned Doval back to the minor leagues when he was struggling with his control. Walker had never been a closer before that and he finished the season with 10 saves. When Doval returned late in the season, the 29-year-old didn't give the job back.
