8/25/25 Junior Caminero Makes Home Run History in Rays' 7-2 Win Over Cardinals. After sitting through a 4-hour, 25-minute rain delay on Sunday at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa — the longest home rain delay in team history — they Rays beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 to take the interleague series. Starter Ryan Pepiot was great, allowing just one run over five scoreless innings, and the bullpen did its job from there to close it out. It was his 37th home run of the year, the most ever by an American League player in their year-21 season. Caminero, who turned 22 on July 5, broke the record previously held by Alex Rodriguez, who hit 36 in 1996 during his 21-year-old season.

8/18/25 One Bad Inning Ends Rays' Hopes of Sweep, Winning Road Trip in 7-1 Loss to Giants. Ryan Pepiot was dealing. The Tampa Bay starting pitcher had breezed through five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits against the San Francisco Giants as the Rays were looking for a sweep and a winning two-week road trip. The Giants broke open a 0-0 pitchers' duel in the bottom of the sixth with three singles, a walk and a double. Pepiot went from dominating to done in just 19 pitches, and the Rays wound up losing 7-1.

The Rays offense erupted with seven runs in the fourth inning to take control of the game. The Angels got two in the fifth and one in the sixth but the Rays remained in control en route to the win. The Tampa Bay Rays' road woes continued Monday night when they started a two-week, 12-game trip up and down the West Coast with a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. Even though they staggered to the finish line, the Tampa Bay Rays picked up a huge victory Wednesday, beating the Athletics 6-5 at Steinbrenner Field. Ryan Pepiot, who started for the Rays, got through six innings after allowing solo home runs in each of the first two innings. The A's were up 2-0 early after Brent Rocker and Max Schuemann homers, but in the bottom of the second, Rays left fielder Jake Mangum drove a ball deep to center field that Denzel Clarke couldn't quite get to.
