5/08/25 Raiders' QB Aidan O'Connell Enters Important Year with Team. The Las Vegas Raiders are heading into a whole new direction in 2025. The Raiders now have a veteran head coach in Pete Carroll who will lead the way on and off the field. Giving the Silver and Black, hopefully, the stability they have been looking for in a head coach since moving to Las Vegas. The Raiders also have a new general manager, John Spytek.

4/27/25 Can Miller Compete with AOC for Raiders' Backup Job?. The Las Vegas Raiders added an intriguing quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Las Vegas selected North Dakota State's Cam Miller in the seventh round, a player who projects as the team's emergency quarterback next season. It was somewhat surprising that the team waited so long to acquire a quarterback, but they landed one with considerable upside. Aidan O'Connell has served as the backup and a spot starter in the last two seasons.

4/24/25 Should Raiders Trade O'Connell on Draft Day?. Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders alternated their starting quarterback between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell, with the former winning the starting position at training camp, but the latter finishing the season off as their starter. Now, Minshew is the backup for their divisional rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and O'Connell is the backup to Geno Smith, someone they believe can elevate this offense and a quarterback they traded for from the Seattle Seahawks.

4/18/25 Raiders Predicted to Trade Aidan O'Connell During NFL Draft, Replace Him With CFP QB. Las Vegas is expected to move on from Aidan O'Connell in favor of a rookie QB.

4/17/25 Raiders trade pitch sends Aidan O'Connell to AFC contender on draft day. Aidan O'Connell's future with the Las Vegas Raiders is looking murky. The 26-year-old showed some promise during his rookie campaign in 2023 and also led the Raiders to a few wins last year. Additionally, The Athletic's Vic Tafur reported on Thursday that the Raiders' new regime, headed by general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll, isn't very impressed with O'Connell, and many expect them to try to trade the third-year quarterback for a Day 3 selection in the draft.

4/13/25 Raiders rumors: Insider makes QB draft trade prediction. One insider delivered the stirring prediction the Las Vegas Raiders will be making trade calls. Which alters the future of past starting quarterback Aidan O'Connell. The Raiders already added Geno Smith via trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Plus reunites the Pro Bowl QB with Raiders head coach Pete Carroll.

4/13/25 Raiders rumored NFL Draft trade chip is the last player you'd expect. The Las Vegas Raiders had arguably the worst offense in the NFL last season under head coach Antonio Pierce and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. While the talent in the running back room left something to be desired, the unit was largely derailed by poor quarterback play. One of the culprits - Gardner Minshew - was released earlier this offseason by the team, but Aidan O'Connell is still under contract for the Raiders. In March, however, new general manager John Spytek traded for Geno Smith, which gave the team an instant starter.

4/07/25 What Is O'Connell's Future With the Raiders?. The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Aidan O'Connell out of Purdue in 2023 with a fourth-round pick, in hopes that he'd be able to materialize into a starter for them one day. Heading into 2024, O'Connell had a chance to be the starter for the entire season but lost the quarterback competition in training camp to Gardner Minshew, who the Raiders brought in from free agency. This is where I believe the Raiders made an error in judgment. Minshew may have shown more talent and poise which led to him becoming their starting quarterback for the 2024 season, but what he didn't have was the potential to develop into a better player.

3/09/25 What Raiders QB Plans Mean for Aidan O'Connell. For the last two seasons, Aidan O'Connell has been a solid quarterback option for the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite O'Connell playing markedly better than Minshew, the Raiders still wanted to upgrade at quarterback. Smith is expected to be the starter in 2025 under head coach Pete Carroll, the two reuniting after a year apart.

3/05/25 Raiders reportedly tell QB Gardner Minshew that they're releasing him. Minshew's release will leave Aidan O'Connell as the only quarterback on the roster with NFL playing experience.

3/05/25 Raiders expected to release QB Gardner Minshew. Has $3.16 million in fully guaranteed money left on deal

The #Raiders informed QB Gardner Minshew they’ll release him when the new league year begins next Wednesday, per sources. Minshew has 46 career starts and is still only 28 years old. An experienced option available. Minshew has $3.16 million in fully guaranteed money left on the two-year, $25M deal he signed with Las Vegas last March. But another new #Raiders regime is going another direction at QB. (Tom Pelissero on X)

FF Today's Take: Minshew played in 10 games last season as the Raiders waffled between him and Aidan O'Connell with predictable mediocrity. Minshew is best served as a backup in the league and holds very little fantasy value even when he does make a start.

3/04/25 Maxx Crosby weighs in on Raiders possibly signing Aaron Rodgers. The Las Vegas Raiders will be in the quarterback market this offseason, as the team must upgrade at the position after a full year of subpar play from Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew in 2024. One of the top quarterbacks set to hit the market this offseason is New York Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers. New York will release the veteran once the new league year begins, allowing Rodgers to seek a fresh start elsewhere.

2/27/25 Raiders predicted to address major weakness by adding $36 million playmaker. The Las Vegas Raiders struggled in many areas in 2024, which is to be expected when a team finishes with a 4-13 record. The biggest problem that needs to be solved is the quarterback position. Aidan O'Connell, Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ridder all got a chance in 2025, but it's now clear that none of trio represent a long-term solution. Staying on offense, the Raiders also have to get better at the running back position.

2/26/25 Raiders making push to bring $160 million veteran quarterback to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Raiders had a rough 2024 season that finished with a 4-13 record and led to head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco's firing just one year into tenures. Las Vegas opted not to invest heavily into their quarterback room, which had Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Desmond Ridder start at least one game in the 18-week season. The three completed 64.5% of their passes for 3,763 yards, 19 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, as the offense finished 13th in passing yards (223.4 per game) and 29th in scoring (18.2 points per game).

2/25/25 Raiders pull off blockbuster Matthew Stafford trade in 3-round NFL Mock Draft. The Las Vegas Raiders will essentially be punting on 2025 if they go into the year with either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell as the team's starting quarterbacks, which is one of the main reasons they have been connected to Los Angeles Rams star Matthew Stafford often during the early stages of the offseason. If the Raiders are able to acquire Stafford, who is being rumored to cost a first-round pick in any trade, there's a very real chance that this team ditches the No. 6 overall pick in a weak quarterback class to move forward with a proven producer and winner to kick off the Pete Carroll era. Should the Raiders end up trading No. 6 overall to acquire Stafford, that still shouldn't disqualify Carroll and new GM John Spytek from knocking it out of the park in the 2025 NFL Draft.

2/24/25 Raiders trade proposal lands projected $83 million star quarterback in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Raiders must address the quarterback position this offseason, as Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew were underwhelming in 2024, and the franchise has a new regime ready to compete for a playoff spot in 2025. The Raiders could look to address the need in April's draft, but Sporting News' Teddy Ricketson proposes a trade that would send Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford to Las Vegas.

2/23/25 Raiders insider reveals why Matthew Stafford to Las Vegas can't be ruled out. The Las Vegas Raiders will be in the quarterback market this offseason, as the team got subpar play from Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew in 2024 and need an upgrade at the position if they want any chance of securing a playoff spot in a loaded AFC in 2025. There are a ton of signal-callers set to hit the free agency market in March, but one name that has recently emerged on the trade market is Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. The veteran has been considered likely to return to Los Angeles next season, but a deal must be worked out between both sides for that to come to fruition. The Rams also gave the two-time Pro Bowler and his agent permission to speak to other teams about what a potential trade and a new deal could look like, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

2/23/25 Patriots recent draft pick could be Raiders trade target. The Las Vegas Raiders completed their 2024 season with a 4-13 record, good for fourth place in the AFC West. Arguably the best reason for their struggles was the play of the quarterbacks who started at least one game this past season - Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Desmond Ridder.

2/22/25 Raiders prediction adds former $242 million Super Bowl winning quarterback. The Las Vegas Raiders will be in the market for a quarterback this offseason, as Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew were uninspiring in 2024, and the team must find a new starter at the position. Las Vegas could select a signal-caller in the first few rounds of April's draft, but the franchise could look to compete for a playoff spot in 2025 with head coach Pete Carroll and sign a veteran. The free-agent quarterback market is lackluster, but Steelers Wire's Curt Popejoy predicts the Raiders will add Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller Russell Wilson, reuniting him with Carroll.

2/21/25 Raiders predicted to sign projected $123.75 million Pro Bowl quarterback. The Las Vegas Raiders must find a new starting quarterback this offseason, as Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew provided subpar play in 2024, and neither are capable of being consistent starters at the position. General manager John Spytek could select a signal-caller in the first few rounds of April's draft, but Las Vegas could also look to bring in a veteran. The free-agent quarterback class is lackluster, but USA Today's Jacob Camenker predicts the Raiders will sign the best player on the market at the position in Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler Sam Darnold.
