7/29/25 | Chargers' Ladd McConkey dealing with "minor" injury according to Jim Harbaugh. The Los Angeles Chargers opened up the checkbook for an offensive lineman while standout receiver Ladd McConkey ruminated about 2024. Unfortunately, McConkey's current status involves dealing with a minor injury, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Ladd McConkey is working through a minor injury, according to Jim Harbaugh. 7/27/25 | Chargers hyped rookie Oronde Gadsden made a big play on Derwin James. The talk of the offseason for the Los Angeles Chargers has been centered around their offense. The new pieces they've put in place will hopefully take pressure off of Ladd McConkey, who carried the offense the majority of his rookie season. The Chargers may have done it again, selecting a solid group of draftees eager to make an impact in year one. Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris have been receiving most of the buzz. 7/24/25 | Maybe Greg Roman was right about this wild comparison for breakout rookie WR. The news has been out for some time now: Mike Williams retired from the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The news was shocking, especially after Williams decided to come back to the team that drafted him following stints with the Jets and Steelers in 2024. With Williams' retirement, it opens the door for other receivers on the depth chart to make an impact. Everyone knows what Ladd McConkey can do, but what about those behind him? 7/24/25 | Chargers rave about former Georgia WR Ladd McConkey, with Harbaugh saying he's 'uncoverable' 1-on-1. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey is making such an impression with the Los Angeles Chargers that coach Jim Harbaugh says he's “uncoverable” one-on-one and linebacker Daiyan Henley is still arguing about a catch the second-year pro made in workouts a month ago. McConkey, a former Georgia Bulldogs star and North Murray High alum in north Georgia, is coming off a sensational season in which he set team rookie records with 82 catches and 1,149 yards receiving, while scoring seven touchdowns. Everyone is expecting more from McConkey — except for maybe Henley during their friendly practice rivalry — as he and quarterback Justin Herbert continue to develop the chemistry that has made them one of the NFL's top pass-and-catch duos. 7/23/25 | 'Much ado about nothing, stay ahead of trends,' why Nick Caserio set milestone on Jayden Higgins' fully guaranteed deal. When Texans general manager Nick Caserio and agent Chris Cabott negotiated a fully guaranteed, $11,700,824 deal for rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins, they set an NFL negotiating milestone. Higgins signed the first fully guaranteed second-round contract in league history. Because of the rise in Higgins' deal to 100 percent guarantees for skill, injury and salary cap one year after Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey received a 91.9 percent guaranteed deal at the 34th overall slot of the draft, the contract caused a ripple effect across the NFL. 7/23/25 | Chargers' Jim Harbaugh drops update on potential Mike Williams replacement. The Los Angeles Chargers were dealt a massive blow at the start of training camp, as wide receiver Mike Williams announced his sudden retirement. That left the Chargers in quite a pickle, as Williams represented the only veteran receiver Los Angeles signed this offseason, and LA lacked proven wide receiver depth with Williams. This has many wondering of the Bolts will ultimately pursue another wide out to put alongside of Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, and head coach Jim Harbaugh provided an update on the situation at training camp this week. Well, kind of. 7/22/25 | Chargers' Jim Harbaugh is about to make a drastic mistake. The Los Angeles Chargers are in a tough spot at wide receiver right now. Beyond Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, there is a whole bunch of uncertainty on the depth chart. You have to figure that second-round draft pick Tre Harris will be in the mix as a top-three receiver, and fellow rookie KeAndre Lambert-Smith will surely get some run, as well. After that, though, it's anyone's guess what Jim Harbaugh decides to do at wide out, but one thing is for sure: he must avoid prioritizing Jalen Reagor over Brenden Rice, and it seems like he may be preparing to make a mistake there. 7/21/25 | Chargers WR who was previously cut candidate now given major role. Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman surely understands that he doesn't have a ton of proven weapons to work with in the aerial attack heading into 2025, but for now, he will have to make do with what he has. Following the retirement of Mike Williams, the Chargers essentially have Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in terms of reliable options (and the term "reliable" should be used loosely with Johnston). After that, you have rookies Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith and a bunch of marginal players. Source: https://www.si.com/nfl/chargers/los-angeles-charge... |
7/17/25 | Chargers connected to midnight hour trade to bolster AFC West hopes. The Los Angeles Chargers won 11 games and made the playoffs last season, and with the Kansas City Chiefs looking somewhat vulnerable, the Chargers could be knocking on the door to Super Bowl contention. The problem is that Los Angeles still has a bunch of roster holes. The most obvious gap for the Chargers is at the wide receiver position, where they have Ladd McConkey and then a whole bunch of unproven — or unreliable — options behind him. The fact that Los Angeles has largely ignored adding veteran help in the aerial attack this offseason is confounding, to say the least, and Bleacher Report's Matt Holder is proposing that the Chargers go out and swing a trade for another wide receiver before the regular season begins. 7/16/25 | Chargers' Ladd McConkey didn't crack ESPN's top 10 but still got plenty of respect. When you look at the Los Angeles Chargers' wide receivers group going into 2025, it's basically Ladd McConkey and everyone else. Making McConkey's year more impressive is the fact that he got off to a quiet start to the season and also missed one game. ESPN put out its annual wide receiver rankings based on the votes of NFL executives, coaches and scouts on Wednesday and while McConkey didn't make the cut, he did land in the "also receiving votes category." 7/12/25 | Chargers predicted to select wide receiver high in first round after miserable 2025 season. The Los Angeles Chargers' need for more help at the wide receiver position is going to be a trending topic when talking about the team until at least one player can step up and turn it into a non-issue. The team hopes that second-round pick Tre Harris will be the answer to that question this season, but questions will remain until that happens consistently. Ladd McConkey had an incredible rookie season, but he is seen as the only "sure thing" on the roster right now. Mark Stolte of PFSN recently posted a 2026 mock draft, and he expects the Chargers to still be looking for wide receiver help next spring. 7/04/25 | Ranking AFC West WR groups: How do Chargers stack up against rivals?. In his first season working with head coach Jim Harbaugh, Herbert had 3,870 yards with 23 touchdown passes against just three interceptions. Herbert did all this without a true No. 1 wide receiver. While rookie Ladd McConkey stepped up and gave them more than 1,000 yards, they still lacked that one player who defenses couldn't stop in the passing game. 7/03/25 | Chargers reunited with the wrong player and it's painfully obvious. Heading into the offseason, the Los Angeles Chargers knew they had to plug their massive hole at wide receiver, as they really didn't have any dependable options behind Ladd McConkey in 2024. Yes, Quentin Johnston put up decent numbers, but his drops and his inconsistency put a damper on what could have been a breakout campaign for the former first-round pick. As a result, many expected the Chargers to either spend big in free agency or swing a blockbuster trade. Source: https://www.si.com/nfl/chargers/los-angeles-charge... |

7/01/25 | Los Angeles Chargers star receives major honor that speaks volumes. Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey enjoyed a brilliant rookie campaign in 2024, one that pretty much no one expected. Had it not been for McConkey's showing, Justin Herbert would have essentially had to do everything on his own, as the rest of the Chargers' receiving corps was not exactly up to snuff. McConkey did not post tremendous numbers at Georgia. As a result, there were some serious questions about McConkey heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, with many viewing him as nothing more than a solid slot receiver. 6/28/25 | Ladd McConkey's Chargers breakout has other teams kicking themselves in re-drafts. For many NFL teams, Los Angeles Chargers wideout Ladd McConkey is the one that got away. McConkey slipped to the 34th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, where the Chargers traded up in what is now an infamous ripoff of the New England Patriots. Racking up 1,149 yards and seven scores over 16 games and 82 catches, McConkey shoved aside some Chargers franchise records. Source: https://www.si.com/nfl/chargers/ladd-mcconkey-char... |
