8/25/25 Boston Red Sox rookie pitcher leaves game with arm injury. Fitts looked down at his arm after throwing his first pitch in the sixth inning, a 94.2 mph outside fastball to Coby Mayo. Manager Alex Cora and head athletic trainer Brandon Henry rushed to the mound and immediately replaced him with lefty Steven Matz. Fitts sounded optimistic after Boston's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

8/08/25 Week 20 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Taj Bradley, Shane Bieber, And 11 More Targets. With the fantasy baseball playoffs around the corner, the waiver wire is packed with potential difference-makers. From power-hitting call-ups like Dylan Beavers and Coby Mayo to pitching reinforcements such as Taj Bradley and Shane Bieber, these Week 20 pickups can give your roster the late-season spark it needs. The Red Sox have gotten a lot of surprising mileage out of Carlos Narvaez this year, but he has been battling knee soreness this week. In addition, Navaez had only one hit over 23 at-bats while sitting four times over Boston's last seven matchups.

8/07/25 How this intense message is helping Coby Mayo improve with the Orioles. It's a stark contrast from how his major league story began. Mayo has often felt like the forgotten prospect amid the wave of young talent the Orioles have developed over the past three years. When he was called up last season, Mayo looked overwhelmed by major league pitching and couldn't carry over the success he had shown at Triple-A Norfolk, where he blasted 25 home runs and flashed elite power potential. In 17 games with the Orioles, he hit just .098 with 22 strikeouts and no home runs; it was a harsh welcome to the big leagues and a clear reminder of the gap between promise and performance.

8/06/25 Phillies doomed by 4th-inning Baltimore rally, fail to complete sweep of Orioles. Coby Mayo hit a three-run homer, Jeremiah Jackson doubled in a run for his first extra-base hit and RBI in the majors and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 on Wednesday. After the Phillies scored 18 runs in winning the first two games of the series, Baltimore left-hander Trevor Rogers (5-2) put a stop to it, allowing one run on eight hits with six strikeouts over six innings. Dietrich Enns pitched two scoreless innings and fellow lefty reliever Keegan Akin closed it out in the ninth for Baltimore.

7/27/25 Coby Mayo, Tyler O'Neill continue turnarounds as Orioles beat Rockies, 5-1. The fate of the Orioles' season is probably already sealed. Such is the case for two of the biggest contributors to the Orioles' 5-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday to take the three-game set. Coby Mayo's role would expand if those in front of him are traded. “There'll be some adversity throughout the week, without a doubt,” interim manager Tony Mansolino said before Sunday's game when asked what he thinks the next few days will bring.

7/24/25 Orioles’ Tony Mansolino on why Coby Mayo is riding the bench: ‘Baby steps’. Orioles prospect Coby Mayo has made just four starts in July while Baltimore has tried to win every game it can before the trade deadline.

7/23/25 Orioles Struggling Slugger Remains Potential MLB Trade Deadline Chip. Last year, the Baltimore Orioles were flooded with trade offers around their top infield prospect, Coby Mayo. With the MLB trade deadline coming up on July 31, potential suitors are likely to come calling to pry him away from Baltimore. Deal him and let him play for someone else, like Kyle Stowers a year ago? Or will the Orioles trade someone else and finally move his roadblock to everyday playing time?

7/22/25 Orioles minor league report: 5 prospects to benefit from deadline fire sale. The Orioles’ roster could see a few spots open up for prospects like Coby Mayo and Samuel Basallo if they sell at the trade deadline.

7/17/25 Orioles Poised To Continue Upgrading Farm System Lacking Talent and Depth. It wasn't too long ago that the Baltimore Orioles had one of the most highly ranked farm systems in baseball. Overflowing with high-upside positional players, a lot of them have made their debut in the Big Leagues in recent years, which has led to the farm system tumbling down the rankings. It is not easy finding talent when selecting later in the draft, where the Orioles have been selecting in recent years after turning things around following their extended teardown and rebuild. Unfortunately, most recently, a few of their top prospects haven't quite panned out, with infielder Coby Mayo and outfielder Heston Kjerstad failing to live up to the lofty expectations placed on them thus far as top prospects.

7/02/25 Orioles' Rookie Slugger Starting to Figure Things Out at the Plate. The Baltimore Orioles' well-documented struggles at the plate this season have turned a once-promising campaign into a seemingly endless routine of cycling through options in the lineup in an effort to spark some sort of offensive production. The call-up of rookie Coby Mayo back at the beginning of May served as a prime example of this never-ending search, even though the No. 2 prospect in the Orioles' farm system hadn't particularly been lighting things up at Triple-A Norfolk this year. At the time of his promotion, Mayo was only carrying a .226/.318/.452 slash line across the 168 at-bats he had for the Tides this season, which followed up the sub-.100 batting average he produced during his first stint at the MLB level at the tail end of 2024. Despite his lackluster production, though, the Orioles' brass decided that it was time to give the now-23-year-old another shot to show what he could bring to the table with the big league club.

6/11/25 Orioles Will Give Star Prospect More Work at Different Position. Coming up the pipeline, the Baltimore Orioles used Coby Mayo at the hot corner. Fitting the profile of a slugging third baseman, the thought of him joining Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday in the Major League infield was a tantalizing one based on the projected ceilings of all three players. Because of that -- and since Jordan Westburg is back after his time on the injured list -- the Orioles are preparing to primarily play Mayo at first base.

6/07/25 Orioles Select 'Left-Handed Hitting Coby Mayo' in Recent MLB Mock Draft. Is Coby Mayo finally with the Baltimore Orioles to stay? Will that influence what the Orioles do with their first-round pick next month? Mayo is back with the Major League club again after he was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on May 31. At some point, the O's will have to commit or trade him to cash in on his value as one of Baltimore's top prospects.
