6/22/25 Seattle Mariners switch-pitching prospect returns to mound. Seattle Mariners switch-pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje tossed four strong innings in his first start since tweaking his ankle over a week ago. Cijntje, whose scheduled start on Wednesday was pushed back, threw 53 pitches, struck out six and allowed an unearned run and three hits in the High-A Everett AquaSox's 3-2 win over the Spokane Indians on Saturday night. After the the first two batters of the game reached on a single and an error, Cijntje retried 12 of the next 14 batters he faced. One of Cijntje's six strikeouts came against Charlie Condon, who's ranked as the No. 23 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline and was the No. 3 overall pick by the Colorado Rockies in last year's draft.

6/12/25 Here's How Mariners Prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje Did in 1st Start Back From Injury. Seattle Mariners 2024 first-round draft pick Jurrangelo Cijntje had a mixed showing in his first start in over a week-and-a-half. The 22-year-old switch pitcher threw three innings in the High-A Everett AquaSox's 5-2 win over the Tri-City Dust Devils on Wednesday. Cijntje struck out batters with both arms. Both earned runs came via a home run he allowed in the top of the first inning.

The Seattle Mariners received some positive injury news on Tuesday when it was reported that top prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje is scheduled to start on Wednesday night for High-A Everett. One of the Seattle Mariners most elite pitching prospects will miss an originally scheduled start for the High-A Everett AquaSox against the Eugene Emeralds at 5:05 p.m. PT on Saturday. Switch-pitcher and Seattle's 2024 first-round draft pick Jurrangelo Cijntje was listed as the team's starting pitcher for Saturday, according to a game recap published on the AquaSox's site. As of 3 p.m. PT, Nico Tellache replaced Cijntje as the scheduled starting pitcher, according to the MiLB Gameday preview.

The Seattle Mariners have already had several success stories in the minor leagues in 2025, including switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje winning the Pitcher of the Week in the High-A Northwest League on Monday, and Victor Labrada winning the Hitter of the Week in the Double-A Texas League. 5/19/25 Seattle Mariners' top 2 pitching prospects are opening eyes. Last week in Seattle, I talked to pitching strategist and coach Trent Blank about the Mariners' top pitching prospects, Jurrangelo Cijntje and Ryan Sloan. Both drafted in 2024, Cijntje is currently ranked 92nd and Sloan 96th on MLB Pipeline's top 100 prospect list, and are opening eyes both in and out of the organization.

Jurrangelo Cijntje started for the High-A Everett AquaSox in a 10-2 win against the Eugene Emeralds on Saturday. It was the longest outing of the ambidextrous pitcher's professional career and the first time he earned a win. The 21-year-old Cijntje has made eight appearances (five starts) this season. Cijntje was taken by Seattle in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

4/25/25 Seattle Mariners Outfielder Jonny Farmelo Set to Return With High-A Everett AquaSox. The Seattle Mariners began 2025 with seven prospects ranked in both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America's respective top 100 rankings. Since the season started, the Mariners have added two more prospects into Baseball America's top 100 list: 2024 first-round pick Jurrangelo Cijntje and that year's second-round selection Ryan Sloan. All nine top 100 prospects, with the exception of one, have had solid games or sustained stretches this season. The only one that hasn't, Jonny Farmelo, has been out with an injury.
