10/14/23 SF Giants Rumors: Mark Hallberg rumored to be internal front-runner for manager. The San Francisco Giants have a lot to do this off-season, and sitting at the top of that list is hiring a new manager after unceremoniously firing Gabe Kapler three days before the end of the season. President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi has said that they want to have a manager in place before they begin talking to free agents. Which indicates to me that their window to make a decision is the last out of the World Series, so time is running out. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, third base coach Mark Hallberg may be the front-runner from within the organization.

10/13/23 SF Giants' search for a new manager to replace Kapler begins to heat up: report. The Giants' search for a new manager appears to be heating up, with a report that team officials met an in-house candidate this week. Mark Hallberg, the team's third-base coach since 2022, was interviewed this week, according to Susan Slusser of the Chronicle. Hallberg appears to be the first candidate interviewed by president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and his staff as the Giants look to replace Gabe Kapler, who was fired with three games remaining in a disappointing 2023 season and one season remaining on his contract. The Giants faded badly down the stretch this season to miss the playoffs for the third time in Kapler's four years as manager.

10/13/23 Report: Mark Hallberg emerges as Giants' top internal managerial candidate. The Giants must bolster their roster to bounce back in 2024 after missing the playoffs for a second consecutive season. For San Francisco, that now includes finding a new manager after Gabe Kapler was fired with three games remaining in the 2023 season. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reported Thursday that Giants third-base coach Mark Hallberg has emerged as the top in-house candidate to fill the role. Others within the organization, such as bench coach Kai Correa, who was named the interim manager for the final week of the regular season, and former third-base coach Ron Wotus, who is now a special adviser to the team.
