1/02/24 Should the Padres Go After Jesús Luzardo to Bolster Starting Rotation?. Should the Padres Go After Jesús Luzardo to Bolster Starting Rotation? San Diego has been known to make moves out of nowhere. Author: Matt Levine Publish date: Jan 2, 2024 2:00 PM EST The San Diego Padres entered this offseason in search of pitching help for their starting rotation. They were expected to lose multiple arms from the 2023 rotation. So far, the expectation has played out true to form. Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo departed for Kansas City, while Blake Snell remains available on the open market. He is unlikely to return, so the team has been looking to replace the production from these players. The Padres did acquire some young pitching talent in the trade that sent Juan Soto to the

12/30/23 Should the Padres Take a Flier on Former AL West Ace?. Should the Padres Take a Flier on Former AL West Ace? This would be a huge upside play with little risk Author: Kevin Skinner Publish date: Dec 30, 2023 1:00 PM EST The Padres need pitching for 2024. After losing Michael Wacha, Seth Lugo, and likely Blake Snell, the rotation is not only thin but lacks top-end talent. 12/21/23 Mahomes on Royals: “Hopefully we have Bobby Witt here for a long time”. The Kansas City Royals have spent more money in free agency this winter than 27 of 30 MLB teams. With over $105 million in free agent signings bringing in the likes of Michael Wacha, Hunter Renfroe, Seth Lugo, Chris Stratton and Will Smith, Kansas City has opened up the checkbook in a way previously unseen for the organization. On Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Royals minority owner Patrick Mahomes weighed in on the moves and shared his hopes for the team's future during a press conference ahead of the Chiefs' Week 16 Christmas Day matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.

12/18/23 Michael Wacha and Kansas City Royals finalize $32 million, 2-year contract. The Kansas City Royals made official their deal with starting pitcher Michael Wacha on Monday, a $32 million, two-year pact that includes a player option for 2025 and incentives based on the number of innings he pitches. The Royals have been among the busiest teams in the majors this offseason, bolstering their rotation in free agency by signing Wacha and Seth Lugo along with their bullpen by signing Chris Stratton and Will Smith. The deal for Wacha includes a $16 million salary next year, a $16 million option and $50,000 bonuses for pitching 105 innings each season and each additional five through 150.
