8/14/25 Mets' 34-year old outfielder leaves contract with New York to sign with new team. The New York Mets lost some outfield depth on Thursday. The 34-year old veteran Rafael Ortega has opted-out of his contract with the Mets' organization to seek a new opportunity elsewhere, according to MLB Trade Rumors. Ortega had a clause in his minor league contract allowing him to leave if he hadn't been called up. Ortega originally played for the Mets in 2023.

(August 1, 2025) – The St. Lucie Mets held off the Daytona Tortugas 6-3 on Friday night at Clover Park to win their ninth consecutive game. The nine straight wins are the most for the Mets since they won nine in a row from June 26-July 5, 2014. The Mets jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings. The Tortugas scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to cut their deficit to 4-3.
