Right-handed pitcher Chris Stratton, who played for the Pirates for four seasons, elected free agency, according to his transactions log. Stratton triggered an option for this season with the Kansas City Royals and struggled, with a 7.94 ERA over 17.0 innings pitched and 12 innings.
