| 8/20/24 | Injury-ravaged Braves sign Gio Urshela as they try to stave off Mets in NL Wild Card race. After losing yet another star to a significant injury, the Braves added a veteran reinforcement Tuesday as they try to stave off the playoff-hopeful Mets. Atlanta signed Gio Urshela to help replace third baseman Austin Riley, who was diagnosed this week with a broken right hand that's expected to end his regular season. Urshela hit .243 with five home runs and 37 RBIs in 92 games with the Tigers before being released Sunday. The 32-year-old Urshela made 74 appearances at third base, including 66 starts.
