12/02/24 Angels Outfielder Reverses Course, Won't Retire This Offseason After All. Kevin Pillar announced this summer that the 2024 season would be his last. Five months after making his retirement statement, the Los Angeles Angels outfielder has changed course and intends to compete again in 2025. "I've just had some time to reflect and I still enjoy doing it," Pillar said on Monday's episode of Hot Stove with Harold Reynolds and Matt Vasgersian. Pillar, now relocating to the Dallas area, plans to attend the Winter Meetings in hopes of finding a team to come out of retirement with.

10/28/24 Ex-Blue Jays player Kevin Pillar joins Sportsnet broadcast team. If Toronto Blue Jays fans tune in to check out tonight's coverage of the World Series on Sportsnet, they'll likely see a familiar face. With uncertainty around whether he'll ever play another game in the major league, Kevin Pillar has at least found a temporary home on his first MLB team's home broadcast network. The former Blue Jays outfielder is joining MLB Central for World Series coverage, starting tonight with Game 3 of the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, the network announced in a post on X today.

9/29/24 Angels' Kevin Pillar soaks it all in on what might be the final day of his career. Kevin Pillar's wife and kids and his parents have all been at Angel Stadium this weekend. The Angels 35-year-old outfielder has said consistently that he's leaning toward retiring at the end of the season, but he's also never shut the door entirely on playing again. Before the final game of the season on Sunday, he said he was going to approach the game as if it's his last, even if it might not be. Pillar, who reached 10 years of big league service this season, was released by the Chicago White Sox in April, but Mike Trout's injury opened the door for the Angels to sign him.

9/07/24 Angels make Jo Adell, Kevin Pillar injury decisions. The Los Angeles Angels are playing out another disappointing season. The team is 23 games below .500 entering play on Saturday and they'd easily be the worst team in the American League were it not for the historically terrible Chicago White Sox. The Angels placed Kevin Pillar and Jo Adell on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, according to Angels PR on X. To replace the ailing outfielders, the team has selected Bryce Teodosio's contract and called Jordyn Adams back up from Triple-A.

Pillar was a Toronto Blue Jay from 2013-2019 and a trip back to the Rogers Centre has special meaning for him. Kevin Pillar hit a three-run double, and Jack Kochanowicz recorded his first major league win to propel the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-4 win over the host Washington Nationals on Sunday. Kochanowicz (1-2) threw 7 2/3 innings and allowed two runs on six hits and a walk and fanned two batters. In the fourth inning, Los Angeles' Brandon Drury led off with a walk. 8/04/24 Kevin Pillar says Angels' keeping him at the deadline was 'a mutual decision'. Kevin Pillar was one of the stars of the Angels' victory on Saturday night, prompting many around the Angels to point out that they were surprised — or even disappointed — that he was still there. Pillar is enjoying a renaissance, apparent from games like Saturday, when he made a spectacular catch and drove in a run with two outs. Pillar, however, said he “wasn't surprised” that he wasn't traded, and he said that was partly because of his own wishes. “I think it was mutual,” Pillar said on Sunday morning.

7/08/24 Former Toronto Blue Jays Standout Expected to Retire After This Season. Veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar hit a remarkable accomplishment of 10 years service time in the big leagues this week. #Angels OF Kevin Pillar hit 10 years of MLB service today. Getting 10 years of service time is beating the odds for any player, so Pillar has absolutely earned the right to go out on his own terms, but he'd be walking away while he's still a useful player. After being DFA'd by the Chicago White Sox earlier this year, Pillar has found a solid resurgence with the rebuilding Los Angeles Angels.

7/07/24 Angels Veteran Outfielder May Have Hinted About Future Plans. Kevin Pillar celebrated 10 years of service on Saturday in Chicago when the Los Angeles Angels beat the Cubs 7-0 at Wrigley Field and he has done it unconventionally. The veteran outfielder has defied the odds as only seven percent of Major League Baseball players reach the milestone. For Pillar, his accomplishment means more than just 10 years in the league. “The essence of 10 years is you're fully invested in your pension, but to us baseball players, it's more,” said Pillar, who wore a suit to the ballpark.

6/29/24 Kevin Pillar's first walk-off hit since 2018 gives Angels 6-5 victory over Tigers in 10 innings. Kevin Pillar's single with one out in the 10th inning drove in Taylor Ward and the Los Angeles Angels extended their winning streak to six, rallying for a 6-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night. With Ward as the automatic runner in the 10th, Luis Guillorme had a sacrifice bunt to move Ward to third. Detroit decided to have five infielders with Pillar up and the outfielders playing in left center and right center.
