9/06/25 Blue Jays thoughts: Max Scherzer's weekend shift is worth monitoring. NEW YORK—The six-man rotation is a thing of the past, but the Blue Jays aren't done making tweaks to help ensure their starting pitchers make it through the remainder of the year. Schneider indicated the move was made for precautionary reasons after Scherzer experienced back soreness during a recent start against the Milwaukee Brewers. Chris Bassitt will swap with Scherzer and start Saturday. “Just wanted to give Max an extra day with the upper-back thing,” Schneider said.

9/05/25 Scherzer pushed back a day by Blue Jays for Yankees series. The Toronto Blue Jays flipped their starting rotation against the New York Yankees this weekend and will start Chris Bassitt on Saturday and Max Scherzer on Sunday. Scherzer, a 41-year-old right-hander, left his outing against Milwaukee last Sunday because of back tightness.

9/02/25 Toronto Blue Jays' Bassitt drops honest take about team's bullpen woes. The Toronto Blue Jays, by all accounts, have been one of the best teams in baseball this season. Monday's loss was particularly tough to take: Chris Bassitt pitched six innings while giving up just two runs, before Toronto saw a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning evaporate at the hands of Tommy Nance and Brendon Little, as they fell 5-4 to the Cincinnati Reds.
