6/13/25 Yankees Lose Veteran Pitcher to Diamondbacks. The New York Yankees lost some veteran rotation depth residing in the minor leagues this week. As reported by the New York Post's Joel Sherman on Thursday, right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani opted out of his deal with the team and is heading to the Arizona Diamondbacks. It's unclear if the D-backs signed DeSclafani to a major or minor league deal, though the big league club could use some reinforcements in the rotation following the news that Corbin Burnes, who signed a six-year contract with them worth $210 million as a free agent this past offseason, needs Tommy John surgery.

6/12/25 D-backs Sign Former Giants Starter to Bolster Minor League Depth. With injuries depleting the pitching staff, the Diamondbacks have made an external addition to add depth. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that right-hander Anthony DeSclafani has opted out of his minor league deal with the New York Yankees and will sign with Arizona. There's been no indication whether it's a major league or minor league deal yet.

3/30/24 Twins RHP Anthony DeSclafani to miss 2024 after forearm surgery. Minnesota Twins right-hander Anthony DeSclafani underwent forearm flexor tendon surgery and will miss the entire 2024 season. Expected to be a starter on the back end of the Minnesota rotation, DeSclafani was diagnosed with a right elbow strain in mid-March and was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday in advance of the regular season. With a timetable for a return set at 13 months, DeSclafani will miss the start of the 2025 season as well. Traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Seattle Mariners on Jan. 5, DeSclafani was then moved to the Twins in a Jan. 29 deal.

8/05/23 DeSclafani to receive PRP injection, likely ending season. The Giants likely will be without starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani for the remainder of the 2023 MLB season. DeSclafani was placed on the injured list with a Grade 1 elbow strain on July 30. However, the Giants announced Saturday afternoon the veteran pitcher will receive a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection in his right elbow and will be shut down for six-to-eight weeks. The Giants pitching staff was dealt a blow Sunday prior to their series finale against the Boston Red Sox as right-handed starter Anthony DeSclafani was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow flexor strain. Giants manager Gabe Kapler said DeSclafani, who is 4-8 this season with a 4.88 ERA, will rest for several weeks before he is reevaluated.
