6/26/25 Mets starter Griffin Canning leaves game with non-contact injury vs. Braves. The New York Mets have had to navigate several pitching injuries early in the year. Frankie Montas has made a single start, Sean Manaea is yet to pitch in 2025, Kodai Senga strained his hamstring, and Tylor Megill is dealing with a sprained elbow. On Thursday against the Atlanta Braves, that injury luck grew even worse. Starting pitcher Griffin Canning left the contest with a non-contact injury in the top of the third inning, giving the Citi Field crowd pause as he was helped to the dugout.

6/25/25 Insider's trade proposal sends pair of high-leverage relievers to Mets. The New York Mets are looking for bullpen help with the MLB Trade Deadline just a little over a month away. In the team's latest loss (have dropped 10 of 11 games), the bullpen surrendered seven runs after returning starter Frankie Montas delivered five shutout innings against the Atlanta Braves. The Mets relied heavily on their bullpen throughout the first quarter of the season and now the unit looks to be gassed. For that, MLB insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic proposed a trade between the Mets and Colorado Rockies that would send two high-leverage relief pitchers to Queens.

Montas, who has been out all season recovering from a right lat injury he suffered in spring training, is slated to face fellow right-hander Spencer Strider (2-5, 3.89 ERA).

In what was potentially his final rehab start, New York Mets starting pitcher Frankie Montas struggled with his command once again. After tossing three scoreless innings against the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the latter part of Montas' outing proved to be the difference maker. The righty gave up two runs in the fourth inning, followed by a three-run homer in the top of the fifth inning, which resulted in Montas allowing five earned runs on seven hits over five innings with just two strikeouts and one walk on 80 pitches. In his six rehab starts, the 32-year-old posted a woeful 12.05 ERA and gave up nine long balls.

Both are currently on their rehab assignment, and as the two starters are looking to return, the Mets will have a decision to make with their rotation.
