5/20/25 Royals Cut Bait With 10-Year Veteran Who Has Played For 6 MLB Teams. It was a brief stay with the Kansas City Royals for this lifelong backup catcher. The Royals signed Luke Maile, who has played in parts of 10 big-league seasons, to a minor league deal before the season began. Now that Perez is back to catching most of Kansas City's games, though, there was little need for Maile to stick around. Kansas City already had one of the more qualified backups in the game with Freddy Fermín.

5/02/25 Royals call up veteran catcher, move Marsh to 60-day IL in slew of moves. The Kansas City Royals made a slew of roster moves Friday ahead of a weekend series in Baltimore against the Orioles. The Royals called up catcher Luke Maile from Triple-A Omaha and optioned utility man Tyler Tolbert back to the Storm Chasers in a corresponding move.
