Maile gets $3 million next year, and the Reds have a $3.5 million option for 2025 with a $500,000 buyout under the deal announced Oct. 19. Financial terms were not disclosed by the Reds on Thursday, however reported that the guaranteed value of the deal is $3.5 million. Maile, 32, batted .235 with six homers and 25 RBIs in 72 games last season, his first in Cincinnati.

Manager David Bell said Maile, who caught the first 18 big league starts for Saturday’s pitcher, Andrew Abbott, was able to catch but felt soreness trying to swing a bat.
