9/08/25 Rangers Star Bullpen Arm Discusses Team's Mentality Heading Into Postseason Push. The Texas Rangers have had a relatively competitive 2025 season, posting a 74-70 record and remaining in the hunt for an American League Wild Card spot. With a few weeks left in the regular season, the Rangers sit 1.5 games out of a position for a postseason push, behind the Seattle Mariners, with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees not much further out of reach ahead. It is going to be a tough journey for that final spot in the Ppostseason for Texas, but the good news is that they have been scaling upwards recently, with a 7-3 record over their last 10 games. It is clear that a strong run of games is needed, and reliever Shawn Armstrong recently discussed the team's mentality heading into the mid-September stretch.

9/04/25 How the Rangers have bonded over love of a hobby spreading like wildfire — card collecting. Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong entered manager Bruce Bochy's office one day this season with a memento from the past. It was a nearly half-a-century old black and white baseball card, protected by a plastic case, that depicted a mustachioed catcher in a Dubuque Packers jersey. The card was the first that Bochy, then a 21-year-old at Single-A in Dubuque, Iowa, had ever autographed. The old — er, how about, historic — finds are partly what's sparked a hobby that's swept through the Rangers clubhouse this season.

7/30/25 Mike Trout last of 4 Angels HBPs as benches clear with Rangers. The benches cleared in the eighth inning of the Los Angeles Angels' 8-5 win over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night, and even though no punches were thrown, emotions ran high after the game. Rangers reliever Shawn Armstrong hit Zach Neto and Mike Trout with consecutive pitches to load the bases, prompting Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery to walk toward the plate, wave his arms and yell at Texas manager Bruce Bochy.

6/15/25 Texas Rangers Reliever Sets Intriguing Pitching Record for Live Ball Era. The use of bullpen games by Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy this week has been nothing short of brilliant. The club has responded with two wins in that scenario and has won six of its last seven games overall. In addition to the brilliance, one reliever was perfect in Friday night's 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Shawn Armstrong threw a career-high 3.0 perfect innings in his first start of the season and 17th of his career.
