The ball club has signed former New York Mets right-hander Sean Reid-Foley to a minor league deal and he'll be assigned to triple-A Reno, via Alex Weiner: “The Diamondbacks signed free agent reliever Sean Reid-Foley to a minor league contract, per transactions page. Reid-Foley was assigned to Reno. He threw 21.2 major league innings on the Mets last year with a 1.66 ERA, although he missed a lot of time with injury,” Weiner wrote on X. Reid-Foley came up to the big leagues in 2018 with the Toronto Blue Jays and spent three seasons with them before joining the Mets in 2021. On Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com announced that New York is releasing reliever Sean Reid-Foley. The righty has shown flashes of being a dominant reliever but has been snake-bitten by injuries in the past, which ultimately led to the Mets parting ways with him. His stuff looks similar to previous years, but he's struck out 48% of lefties so far in AAA this season. He's always been effective against LHH. Rico Garcia is another fun one. His fastball has a rare shape — 21 inches of IVB puts it among the highest “rising” heaters in the league. He pairs Source: http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2025/05/in-focus-sea... |
3/12/25 | Tom Brennan: Sean Reid-Foley and Brandon Sproat; Sticks, Stones, and Swings May Break My Bones; Remaining Can't-Miss Hot Free Agents. Sean Reid-Foley (SRF), now 29 years of age, has had career ups and downs. For all of you Dom Hamel lovers out there, SRF (like Hamels) had rough years in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and got past them to have spent parts of 7 seasons in the majors, mostly in relief. In 2017 in AA, SRF went 10-11, but with an unsightly 5.56 ERA. In 2018, he was actually good in the minors (12-5, 3.26 in 130 innings) but struggled in his call up to Toronto ((2-4, with a high 5.13 in 33 IP).
