7/04/25 Angels' Yoan Moncada gets important injury update. After the Los Angeles Angels named Yoán Moncada as their starting third baseman this spring, the oft-injured infielder has dealt with multiple ailments that have sidelined him for most of the first half. Moncada most recently landed on the IL at the beginning of June. Moncada is set to start a rehab assignment with the ACL Angels on Friday, according to LA's official PR account on X. The Arizona Complex League Angels are a rookie-level minor league affiliate of the team. The Angels did not include a timeline for Moncada's return to the lineup.

6/24/25 Angels fix at third base may have just been gifted to them. As the Angels continue to wait for Yoan Moncada to recover from injury and take back over at third base, they may have found a saving grace courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds. The National League East squad placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on waivers, making him available to any team via trade or outright signing. While the Angels likely do not want to take on the financial obligations attached to Candelario (he is owed $15 million this season and next), there are a couple of avenues they could go down.

6/22/25 Angels' $5 Million Infielder Provides Discouraging Update on Frustrating Injury. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada gave a disappointing update on the knee injury which has kept him on the injured list since June 2. “I have been feeling better, but I still feel pain,” Moncada said. This is Moncada's second trip to the injured list since his move to the Angels in the offseason, the first lasting a little more than three weeks after he sustained a thumb sprain April 10. Moncada says he can swing left-handed but not right-handed, and that he can't do any defensive drills with his injury.

6/13/25 Angels' $5 Million Infielder Having 'Slow' Recovery From Injury. Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington said third baseman Yoan Moncada is having a "slow" recovery from right knee inflammation, which has kept him on the injured list since June 2. Moncada is eligible to return for the Angels series opener against the Orioles on Friday, but is unable to plant his back leg on his swing. Washington previously expected Moncada to return when eligible after having him hit off a tee and easing him into drills, but this may not be the case due to his injury troubles. The Angels signed Moncada to a one-year, $5 million contract over the offseason, and when he has been healthy he has been a force in the Angels' batting order.

6/12/25 Angels' $5 Million Breakout Slugger Linked to Yankees in Trade Deadline Move. Yoan Moncada's career has been an interesting one to say the least. A player with a ton of natural ability, the Cuban infielder first made a name for himself in 2016 as an elite prospect with the Boston Red Sox. With the White Sox, Moncada had middling success. Aside from one 25-homer season in which he hit .315 (in 2019), Moncada was woefully inconsistent as a performer and in terms of staying on the field.

6/08/25 Angels Manager Reveals When Yoan Moncada Will Return. Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington doesn't believe third baseman Yoan Moncada will have an extended stay on the injured list. Washington said Moncada began hitting off of a tee Saturday, and he plans to ease him into drills. “Once his time is up on the (IL), he should be back,” Washington said. Moncada is eligible to be activated on Friday for the first of a three game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

6/03/25 Angels' Yoan Moncada Breaks Silence After Being Placed on Injured List. Yoan Moncada tried to battle through the knee injury that forced him to exit Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees. After having Thursday off, the Los Angeles Angels kept Moncada in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Despite his efforts to stay off the injured list, the Angels placed Moncada on the 10-day IL on Monday.

5/31/25 Yankees Urged to Trade for Angels' $5 Million Breakout Player in Blockbuster Move. Newsweek's Andrew Wright lists Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada as a prime candidate to fill the hole the New York Yankees have at third base. The Yanks are faced with a problem at the hot corner, as Oswaldo Cabrera underwent season-ending surgery on his fractured ankle May 16 and Oswald Peraza is batting .160 in 81 at-bats with nearly twice as many strikeouts than hits this season. Meanwhile, Moncada has performed better with the Angels than he has his whole career, posting his highest OPS (.812) since 2019, when he had the best year of his career with the Chicago White Sox. Moncada has spent most of the last two seasons on the injured list, but when he's been healthy this season, he has slashed .228/.333/.478 with five home runs and eight runs batted in across 28 games.

5/29/25 Angels $5 Million Offseason Addition Suffers Yet Another Injury. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada sustained a right knee injury in Wednesday's series finale against the New York Yankees. Moncada exited the game after five innings, citing knee soreness. Moncada already spent some time on the injured list for the Angels this season, spending April 10-May 6 sidelined with a right thumb sprain. The Angels signed Moncada in February after he elected free agency.

5/28/25 Angels' $5 Million Addition Linked to Yankees, Others in Potential Trade Deadline Move. The Los Angeles Angels are rebounding after a rough start to the season and are now somewhat stuck in the middle of the pecking order, which means they could end up buying or selling towards the middle of the season. The Angels came into the season with a balanced roster that has veterans and prospects in an attempt to have some immediate success while having a healthy developmental pipeline. One of the team's veteran acquisitions was third baseman Yoan Moncada, a Chicago White Sox castoff who had a ton of hype when he broke into the majors, but has failed to live up to expectations. CBS Sports insider R.J. Anderson has pegged Moncada as a name to watch on the hot stove with the summer approaching soon.

5/28/25 Former Top Prospect Makes Interesting History with Birthday Home Run For Los Angeles Angels. The Los Angeles Angels lost 3-2 against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night, despite the efforts of third baseman Yoan Moncada. Moncada hit his fifth home run of the season, which came on his 30th birthday, making some fun team history. Yoán Moncada (celebrating 30th birthday today) is the first #Angels player to homer on his birthday since Mickey Moniak (25th birthday) on May 13, 2023 at Cleveland.

5/16/25 Shohei Ohtani homers, but Angels take down Dodgers. May 17 - Yoan Moncada hit a first-inning home run and right-hander Jack Kochanowicz pitched into the seventh inning as the visiting Los Angeles Angels pulled off a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday to open a three-game series. Zach Neto had a two-run double and Nolan Schanuel added a two-run single while Kochanowicz (2-5) gave up one run on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for the Angels. Kochanowicz forced the Dodgers into four ground-ball double plays. Former Dodgers right-hander Kenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth for the Angels in a non-save situation. 4/10/25 Angels 3B Yoan Moncada (thumb) lands on 10-day IL. The Los Angeles Angels placed third baseman Yoan Moncada on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right thumb strain. Moncada, 29, originally hurt his thumb in mid-March and had been trying to play through the injury. He is batting .190 (4-for-21) with two doubles and four RBIs in eight games in his first season with Los Angeles. Moncada signed a one-year, $5 million deal in February following eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox. In related moves, the Angels promoted infielder J.D. Davis from Triple-A Salt Lake and designated left-hander Jack Dashwood for assignment. –Field Level Media

4/05/25 Angels Manager Provides Massive Update on 3 Players Who Left Game With Injury. The Los Angeles Angels have been no strangers to injuries in this sample size of 2025 thus far. Manager Ron Washington has been forced to get extremely creative in his lineups and the final product out on the field amid these changes, but he provided a positive update on when to expect the trio of injured Angels to return. Luckily, the three Angels who left Friday's contest early — infielders Yoan Moncada, Luis Rengifo, and reliever Ryan Zeferjahn — are not expected to hit the injured list, per Washington.
