5/13/24 Yankees' Jahmai Jones gives mom payback for raising family after NFL dad's sudden death. Jahmai Jones returned to the Yankees clubhouse after Sunday's 10-6 win over the Rays and grabbed his phone to check his text messages. The Yankees' seldom-used reserve second baseman and outfielder was “a thousand percent” sure that his mom had been watching the Yankees' game on TV back home in surburban Atlanta when he hit his first career home run in the third inning, and he was right.
5/12/24 Yankees Lineup Mashes on Mother's Day. After relatively quiet games against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday and Saturday, the New York Yankees' lineup flexed its muscles in the series finale. Donning pink for Mother's Day, the Bronx Bombers gave plenty of mothers something to smile about by pounding five home runs in cavernous Tropicana Field. Jahmai Jones, Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, and Jose Trevino all went deep as the Yankees won a 10-6 slugfest.
5/12/24 Former Top Prospect Jahmai Jones Finally Hits 1st Career Home Run With NY Yankees. It may have taken him a while, but Jahmai Jones has finally gone yard in the big leagues. Jones has been on the New York Yankees' active roster since Opening Day, but he was making just his second start of the season Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Jones wound up putting the Yankees on top 2-0 by leading off the third inning with a solo home run. With an exit velocity of 109.5 miles per hour and a launch angle of 21 degrees, Jones was only able to send the ball 383 feet, but it still cleared the fence in left.
3/27/24 Jahmai Jones ready for anything as bench bat awaits Yankees' official roster. HOUSTON — The Yankees ' Feb. 28 acquisition of Jahmai Jones didn't receive much fanfare, but the backup appears to have earned a spot on the team's bench. That could change, as the club doesn't have to make its Opening Day roster official until, well, Opening Day, which is Thursday in Houston. Still, Jones has made it thus far, positioning himself on a bench that also includes outfielder Trent Grisham and, depending on the day, some combination of Jose Trevino, Austin Wells, Oswaldo Cabrera and Jon Berti. The Yankees acquired Berti from the Marlins on Wednesday , showing how fluid roster construction can be this time of year. Aaron Boone, speaking over Zoom afterward, said that the Yankees' roster
3/02/24 THE YANKEES JUST PICKED UP A GEM. If you woke up a day ago and said, "Well, who the hell is Jahmai Jones ? " know that today he is on the New York Yankees. In the move to offer more stability to the team, the Yankees signed the infielder picking him up off waivers. Believe it or not, it's a solid move. Empire Sports Media wrote: "The 26-year-old was designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers last week, and the Yankees are taking a flyer on a prospect who has had some success at the Minor League level this past season. Jones hit 12 home runs in 103 games with a .413 OBP and 122 wRC+ in Triple-A for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers at the highest level of Minor League Baseball but has struggled in the big leagues."
