5/13/25 Cubs urged to make controversial decision involving $56 million Cy Young winner. The Chicago Cubs undoubtedly need more starting pitching. With Justin Steele out for the year and Shota Imanaga out at least a while longer, the Cubs are doing all they can to tread water. Matthew Boyd and Colin Rea are outperforming expectations, but reinforcements would still be a huge boost. Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara was supposed to be the prize of this year's trade deadline, but he's been so bad that his stock has at least momentarily plummeted.

5/10/25 Cubs Made Intentions Clear with Biggest In-Season Move Involving Top Prospect. The Chicago Cubs have suffered some potentially season-altering injuries already during the 2025 MLB regular season. Losing Justin Steele is a massive blow given how consistent he has been over the last few years as a front-end starter. If Shota Imanaga is sidelined for an extended period of time, along with him, their pitching woes are going to be exacerbated that much more. A major reason the Cubs have been able to overcome any of their issues on the mound has been an incredibly productive offseason.

5/10/25 Cubs trade ideas land them two-time All Star to upgrade spotty rotation. While the Chicago Cubs offense has been producing at a league-leading clip, their mediocre pitching staff has prevented them from keeping pace with the National League elite. With Justin Steele out for the season and Shota Imanaga landing on the injured list, the Cubs have been forced to piece together a rotation with veteran journeymen and unproven youngsters. The results have not been inspiring, and their shortcomings were on full display Friday against the NL-East leading New York Mets. The Mets smashed four home runs against de facto ace Jameson Taillon, breaking the game open before the Cubs' bats could even get going.

5/09/25 Cubs Call Up Top Pitching Prospect For Series Against Mets. Cade Horton is expected to make his highly anticipated MLB debut as the Chicago Cubs travel to New York for a three-game series against the Mets from Friday to Sunday. This roster move comes as a result of the Cubs starting rotation being hit hard by injuries. Justin Steele is out for the season with an elbow injury, and fellow lefty Shota Imanaga was recently placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain. The Cubs have not yet officially announced when Horton will pitch – or whether he'll start or come out of the bullpen – but he's with the team in New York.

5/05/25 Cubs could make bold decision, cut ties with top 5 prospect after Shota Imanaga injury. The Chicago Cubs' starting rotation had already suffered a blow when Justin Steele had to undergo season-ending surgery. Shota Imanaga is also now dealing with an injury. The Cubs are looking like the class of the National League Central, but two significant pitching injuries could put them off course. FanSided's Micahael Brakebill suggested the team could cut ties with No.3 prospect Owen Caissie to land a pitcher at the trade deadline.
