9/20/23 Joey Meneses' pinch-hit 3-run homer sends Nationals past White Sox 4-3. Joey Meneses pinch-hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and the Washington Nationals defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-3. Jackson Rutledge, a former first-round selection, allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings in his first home start for Washington. The Nationals had lost six of seven. Luis Robert Jr. and Yoán Moncada homered for Chicago, which has lost eight of 11 and 13 of 18. Left-hander Aaron Bummer allowed two of the four hitters he faced to reach, and was lifted when right-handed hitting Meneses was announced as a pinch hitter for Blake Rutherford. Meneses remained in to face right-hander Bryan Shaw and lifted a slider into the visitors’ bullpen in left-center for his 12th home run of the season.

9/18/23 Brewers fall to Washington Nationals, demote Wiemer. (247NEWSERVICE) Milwaukee, WI – The Nationals salvaged their series with the Brewers following a 2-1, extra innings victory from Milwaukee. The game was tied at one run apiece in the top of the 11th until Joey Meneses powered a sacrifice fly which scored CJ Abrams. Robert Garcia shut down the Brew Crew in the bottom half of the frame to secure the victory. Carlos Santana drove in the lone run for Milwaukee, which slipped to 84-and-65. The Brewers are still first in the NL Central and will play the Cardinals in St. Louis tonight. Brewers Send Joey Wiemer To Minors: Meanwhile, the Brewers are sending a rookie outfielder back to the minor leagues. Joey Wiemer was optioned to Triple-A Nashville yesterday.

Joey Meneses hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning and the Washington Nationals defeated the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 on Sunday to prevent a three-game sweep. Luis García homered early for the Nationals, who are last in the NL East. With right-hander Thyago Vieira (0-1) on for his second inning of relief in the 11th, automatic runner CJ Abrams advanced to third base on Lane Thomas' flyout and scored on Meneses' third sacrifice fly of the season.
