5/02/25 Guardians' veteran righty could miss significant time with high-grade shoulder strain. A key veteran arm at the front of Cleveland's bullpen could be in for a lengthy stay on the injured list. The Guardians announced that Paul Sewald sustained an isolated, high-grade strain of his posterior deltoid muscle on Monday while pitching in the fifth inning of the Guardians' 11-1 loss to the Twins. Cleveland placed Sewald on the 15-day injured list Tuesday after he signaled to trainers and walked off the mound following a first pitch ball to Minnesota's Ryan Jeffers.

4/28/25 Cleveland Guardians Veteran Pitcher Exits With Injury. Paul Sewald took the mound in the bottom of the fifth inning, representing the Cleveland Guardians' third pitcher of the night in their series opener against the Minnesota Twins. Sewald managed to record the first two outs of the inning and even struck out one batter, but something looked very off on his last pitch of the night. Stephen Vogt and Cleveland's athletic trainer quickly followed, and Sewald didn't hesitate as he handed his manager the ball.

4/15/25 Paul Sewald, Jakob Junis emerge as key contributors in Guardians' bullpen. The Cleveland Guardians' 5-1 homestand showcased not just improved starting pitching but a bullpen renaissance led by two veteran additions who weren't necessarily expected to shoulder such significant loads. On the latest Cleveland Baseball Talk Podcast, hosts Joe Noga and Paul Hoynes broke down the surprising impact of Paul Sewald and Jakob Junis, highlighting how they've stabilized a bullpen that seemed potentially vulnerable heading into the season. “These guys have gone out there and they've taken the ball every time Stephen Vogt has needed them and they've been effective, and in a lot of ways highly efficient as well, allowing them to come back and really preserve the back end of that bullpen that saw so much work last season,” Noga observed early in the discussion, pointing to their reliability factor.
