1/26/24 Jared Walsh among 3 players to sign minor league deals with World Series champion Texas Rangers. Former All-Star slugger Jared Walsh and utility infielder Matt Duffy have signed minor league contracts with the Texas Rangers that include invitations to big league spring training. The defending World Series champions also announced a similar deal Thursday with left-hander Blake Taylor. Walsh was an All-Star in 2021, when he set career highs with 29 homers and 98 RBIs as a first baseman for the Angels.

Right-handers Jaime Barria and Carson Fullmer, left-hander Jhonathan Diaz, outfielder Brett Phillips and catcher Chad Wallach were also outrighted. Walsh, Barria, Phillps and Wallach were all arbitration eligible, making them candidates to be non-tendered in November. The Angels could eventually re-sign any of the players.

9/17/23 Jared Walsh enjoying return to the majors with Angels. Jared Walsh was an All-Star in 2021, a fixture in the Angels lineup and their everyday first baseman. Walsh struggled offensively in 2022, batting .215/.269/.374 in 118 games and later was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. While battling his ailments, Walsh hit .119 with one home run and five RBIs in 28 games before being designated for assignment by the Angels on July 27. Less than a month later, Walsh accepted an outright assignment to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, where he worked on his health and hitting.
