6/18/25 | White Sox running out of time to avoid selling low on Luis Robert Jr.. The Sox' de facto star player was supposed to be the second-year general manager's top trade chip as the team's roster overhaul nears completion from a short-lived contending window that slammed shut two years ago. Once a mainstay in the heart of the order, Robert — batting .190 with six home runs — was slated to hit sixth before Wednesday's game against the Cardinals was rained out. Manager Will Venable has dropped him as far as seventh in the order during a month in which he also benched Robert for two games for a breather from the plate. The MLB trade deadline is still a few weeks out, but the landscape has already shifted — and for the Boston Red Sox, the chaos could mean opportunity. Several American League teams have begun drifting toward seller territory , as noted by Matthew Lenz of Talk Sox. That includes the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles — all of whom could offer pieces that fit Boston's longer-term vision. The White Sox are buried in the standings and likely to offload expiring contracts for controllable talent. While Luis Robert Jr. is the most popular name, his injury history, declining production and Boston's own outfield logjam likely complicate a match. more mlb Alex Cora Shares Initial Source: https://nesn.com/2025/06/mlb-writer-cites-three-te... |
