1/20/24 Yankees' Aaron Judge Could Be Deployed in Left Field in 2024. The New York Yankees could be deploying a slightly different alignment in the outfield during the 2024 season. New York added a pair of outfielders to the mix this offseason with the acquisitions of left fielder Alex Verdugo from the Boston Red Sox and right fielder Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres. The deals added balance to a Yankees lineup that had been mostly right-handed, but also complicated matters defensively, given that the club has just one true center fielder, Trent Grisham, on the roster. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he expects to play Aaron Judge, a natural right fielder, in center field a lot this season, adding that he could even play in left field, during an appearance on the Foul Territory podcast on Friday.
1/16/24 Tuesday Rockpile: Should the Colorado Rockies be open to a trade for Trent Grisham?. Rockies may consider trying to get the Yankees to flip Trent Grisham to them. Yankees need two 40-man spots opened. The Colorado Rockies have, after all, their own glut of outfielders (Skyler Timmins' “six-man platoon”) with general manager Bill Schmidt making clear, according to Thomas Harding's reporting, the team's intention to add a veteran lefty outfielder. Since then, I've been pondering the possibilities, and it's worth considering if he would fit into the Rockies' plans.

Author: Kevin Skinner Publish date: Jan 4, 2024 2:33 PM EST The Padres need a center fielder for 2024. After jettisoning Trent Grisham to New York in the Juan Soto trade, the club could use a steady fielder to station next to Fernando Tatís Jr. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins could be listening to trade offers for veteran outfielder Max Kepler. While it's unclear if he is available in a trade, Dennis Lin of the Athletic sees Kepler as a possible target for the Friars. Potentially feasible trade targets include Max Kepler , Anthony Santander and Seth Brown

12/07/23 The Yankees made a vintage Steinbrenner move to land Juan Soto after a lousy 2023. Juan Soto’s arrival is a sign the New York Yankees want stars to help them rebound from their worst season in three decades. Acquiring the three-time All-Star outfielder from San Diego was a vintage George Steinbrenner move. The Yankees got Soto and Gold Glove center fielder Trent Grisham for right-handed pitchers Michael King, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez and Drew Thorpe along with catcher Kyle Higashioka. General manager Brian Cashman says “we certainly want to try under the Steinbrenner leadership to make this the mecca of baseball.”
