4/03/24 Angels blow out Marlins to win fourth in a row. Patrick Sandoval rebounds from a rough Opening Day start and the Angels rack up 12 hits and eight walks to win 10-2 and sweep the Marlins on the road
4/03/24 Angels, Marlins look for better outings from starters Patrick Sandoval, A.J. Puk. Patrick Sandoval (0-1, 16.20) gets the ball for the Angels, who will be looking for their fourth straight win. Miami, meanwhile, is 0-6 — the worst start in franchise history. "It's a process," Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson said of the losing streak. Puk, a former Oakland A's first-round pick out of the University of Florida, made his MLB debut in 2019 as a reliever.
3/29/24 Angels starters looking forward to traditional 5-man rotation. As Patrick Sandoval was analyzing what went wrong during his forgettable Opening Day start on Thursday, he took some solace in the fact that it's just one game in a long season. The Angels now have a traditional five-man rotation. Because of the unique circumstances of having Shohei Ohtani, the Angels used a six-man rotation almost exclusively in recent years. While the Angels loved having a pitcher of Ohtani's caliber, they also dealt with logistical problems because they would not use him on a normal four days of rest.
3/28/24 Angels blown out by Orioles on Opening Day. Patrick Sandoval gives up five runs while recording only five outs, sending the Angels to an 11-3 loss. Mike Trout’s first-inning homer is the Angels’ only run against former Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes.
3/19/24 Angels pick Patrick Sandoval to start Opening Day in Baltimore. In the end, the Angels came to a decision that seemed obvious a month ago. Patrick Sandoval will be their Opening Day starter. Sandoval, a 27-year-old left-hander who has started 84 games for the Angels over parts of the past five seasons, officially got the nod to start the March 28 opener at Baltimore on Tuesday. “Really cool,” Sandoval said.
