2/03/24 BenFred: Is a new class of former Cardinals ready to add to what-if list? Watch these 2. As a brand new baseball season nears spring training, it's time to update the landing spots of the latest batch of former Cardinals who will try to join a growing list of old friends who find fame and fortune — or just more playing time and better results — elsewhere. Getting traded away or let go by the Cardinals used to be the baseball equivalent of being put out to the national pastime's pasture. It's changed in big, loud ways, such as with Randy Arozarena in Tampa, Sandy Alcantara in Miami, Zac Gallen in Arizona and Adolis Garcia in Texas. It's changed in quieter ways, too, such as with Patrick Wisdom, who ranks 16th in National League home runs since 2021, or Lane Thomas, who has a better on-base plus slugging percentage through 2½ seasons with the Nationals (.763) than fourth outfielder Dylan Carlson (.717) does in his Cardinals career.

1/13/24 Arozarena, McClanahan among 8 Rays to reach contracts. Adam and Ramírez again on track for hearings. Slugging outfielder Randy Arozarena and injured ace Shane McClanahan were among eight players who agreed to contracts with the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday and avoided arbitration. Right-hander Jason Adam and designated hitter/outfielder Harold Ramírez remained on track for hearings next month. Tampa Bay went to four hearings last year, beating left-hander Colin Poche and right-hander Ryan Thompson, and losing to Ramírez and Poche.

12/14/23 Writer Proposes Blockbuster Trade to Bring Randy Arozarena to Padres. Writer Proposes Blockbuster Trade to Bring Randy Arozarena to Padres This would reinvigorate the Padres. Author: Matt Levine Publish date: Dec 15, 2023 2:00 PM EST The San Diego Padres are looking for different ways to improve their roster this offseason, but the tricky part is doing so while trying to shed salary . However, president of baseball operations A.J. Preller always has a trick up his sleeve, and he finds a way to pull moves that nobody saw coming. One team that San Diego could look into talking trade with is the Tampa Bay Rays. They just reportedly traded away starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers , so they are clearly looking to make some moves. MLB writer

12/07/23 Recapping the Rays Winter Meetings. A week ago, as the Tampa Bay Rays prepared to leave for the Winter Meetings, there was speculation that they could be among the most active teams. Several of the team's core players were being brought up in persistent trade rumors. Just last weekend, reports were surfacing on the Rays were looking to find a suitor for talented young players like outfielder Randy Arozarena and third baseman Isaac Paredes. The Rays also brought back Erasmo Ramirez on a minor league deal.
