1/17/25 | Blue Jays predicted to sign $105 million All-Star to boost lineup. The Toronto Blue Jays have added Andres Gimenez, Myles Straw and Jeff Hoffman to their roster for 2025. The team has been linked to several high-profile free agents, including Alex Bregman, Roki Sasaki, Pete Alonso and Anthony Santander. Toronto hopes to contend in 2025, and they even chose to keep Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette around despite both being in the final year of their contracts. 1/15/25 | Toronto Blue Jays Trade Acquisition Set to Make Team History Not Seen in Nearly 40 Years. With Opening Day just over two months away, new Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez is set to join some fun (and rare) team history. According to the @NumbersMLB account on "X," Gimenez will wear No. 0 in Toronto. Gimenez, 26, was acquired earlier this offseason from the Cleveland Guardians. An excellent defender, he'll instantly upgrade the Jays run prevention efforts. Source: https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/history/... |
1/14/25 | Are The Cleveland Guardians' Constant Tough Decisions Worth It?. This has been the reality for Guardians fans over the last few decades as they've watched some of the team's cornerstones be dealt in trades for, at the time, a package of prospects and occasional major league level player. It was more of the same this past offseason, with both Andres Gimenez and Josh Naylor at the center of trades just a month after the team was three wins away from a World Series appearance. Cleveland's president of baseball operations, Chris Anontetti, recently discussed these trades on the Cleveland Guardians Podcast and their short-term and long-term impact on the organization. 1/10/25 | Major trade for Toronto Blue Jays inevitable after slow offseason. Describing the Toronto Blue Jays' offseason to a non-baseball fan might be most relatable to the unenviable task of navigating the job market as a young employee. Like a person searching for employment, the Jays have been contacting seemingly endless amounts of agents and players, hoping to lure some new talent to Canada's only MLB team. To show for it, Toronto doesn't have a whole lot of, well, anything substantial. Since their season ended in early October, they've got five minor league deals signed with roster invites to spring training, and two new expected major leaguers — infielder Andres Gimenez and reliever Nick Sandlin — acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in December. 1/09/25 | Guardians Insider Predicts Surprise Candidate To Start Season At Second. One of the biggest storylines of the Cleveland Guardians' offseason has been who will replace Andres Gimenez at second base after the shocking trade during Winter Meetings. Cleveland actually has several internal options who could become their new middle infielder, and they could always opt to bring in a veteran, too.
