Zach McKinstry turned 30 years old on Tuesday, but the Detroit Tigers utility man didn't just celebrate with a postgame cupcake. McKinstry was named the first “Most Valuable Philanthropist” of the 2025 season by the Players Trust, the charitable arm of the MLB Players Association. The recognition comes with a $10,000 grant to support McKinstry's work with various charities, including BBQ Mission, a Phoenix-based nonprofit that serves meals and spiritual support to the homeless. Neither the Kansas City Royals nor Detroit Tigers showed much pop at the plate on Sunday, but their series finale was still must-see TV for small ball fans everywhere. The Royals got on the board in the second, stringing together four singles to score two runs. The Tigers eventually answered in the fourth, tying things up thanks to four singles of their own.
