6/19/24 Cubs Swap Pair Of Veteran Catchers As Offensive Woes Worsen. The Chicago Cubs have had one of Major League Baseball's most lethargic offenses this season. Any lineup alteration has the potential to improve the situation and on Wednesday, Chicago brought in some reinforcements. An OPS+ of 100 is the average for a Major League hitter.
5/06/24 MLB's Rob Manfred weighs in on controversial Mets' Pete Alonso play. The controversial call that ended the Mets' 1-0 loss to the Cubs last Wednesday made waves across the league last week. Neither the plate umpire nor the replay official called player interference on Chicago catcher Miguel Amaya for having his foot on the plate as he tagged out Pete Alonso at home to end the game with a double-play. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred commented on the play APSE Commissioners Meetings at MLB headquarters in New York on Monday. “We feel very comfortable that the rule was applied correctly,” Manfred said.
