Short, 30, is now playing for his fifth major-league team. He appeared at the MLB level for the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and Atlanta Braves in 2024. He was claimed off waivers by the Mets when the Tigers removed him from the roster following the 2023 season. Short made the Mets' Opening Day roster after a strong spring but played sparingly once the season began, going 1-for-9 and starting only three games.
