7/05/25 Nationals trade talks include 3 players who can help contending teams. This looked like it might be the year the Washington Nationals turn things around. It is not, though, and now it's time for the Nats to consider moves. They'll almost certainly be a seller at the trade deadline, trying to build up for next season to be the big jump. MLB Trade Rumors lists three players as top trade candidates for the Nats: Michael Soroka, Kyle Finnegan and Nathaniel Lowe. Soroka's reasoning from MLBTR goes like this: "Soroka signed a one-year, $9MM free agent contract to work out of Washington's rotation. He missed a month early in the season with a biceps strain but has been healthy since the second week of May. A 4.70 ERA through 59 2/3 innings isn't eye-opening, but he's striking

7/01/25 Five Washington Nationals Who Could be Dealt as MLB Trade Deadline Approaches. The Washington Nationals are clearly sellers going into the MLB trade deadline. The Nationals have a young core of players that are basically untouchable. Here are five players that could be included in trades to make the Nationals better for next season. There may not be anything more certain than Kyle Finnegan going somewhere at the trade deadline.

6/30/25 Kyle Finnegan Gives His Thoughts on Struggles of Young Nationals Relievers. Armed with a roster that has plenty of rising stars, the Nationals have done enough early in games to put themselves in positions to win. While Washington continues to work through their rebuild, at some point the team has to learn how to win to establish a culture that will allow them to compete with the giants of their division. Learning is exactly what Kyle Finnegan hopes the young, struggling relievers are doing this year. Finnegan is in an interesting position.

6/28/25 Important Nationals Reliever Has Setback, Shut Down for Few Days. The Washington Nationals have had bullpen troubles all year long. Entering Saturday with a unit that owns the second-worst ERA in all of Major League Baseball (5.74), their relief staff is one of the biggest reasons why the Nationals are 14 games under .500. Following the trade deadline, things could get worse on paper since the expectation is Kyle Finnegan is going to get moved, something that would hurt Washington's chances of closing out games. The hope was by the time their veteran closer gets dealt they would get back another key part of their bullpen, with Derek Law returning from the right forearm inflammation that has kept him on the injured list since the start of this campaign.

6/28/25 Washington Nationals Should Turn to Rookie After Trading Kyle Finnegan. The Washington Nationals are one of the few teams that already look to be surefire sellers ahead of the MLB trade deadline this year. One of the players that will almost assuredly be on the move is closer Kyle Finnegan. The Nationals opted not to trade him last year, but were ready to move on in the offseason when a contract would be agreed upon ahead of arbitration, leading to the veteran being non-tendered. When his market didn't develop, he returned to Washington on a one-year, $5.38 million deal.
