9/06/25 | The Bears need D'Andre Swift to run for 4 1/2 yards — everything else is gravy. All good running backs grow up thinking they can outrun everyone. Enter D'Andre Swift, the running back who frustrated the Bears last season by insisting he could hit a home run on every carry. It made him markedly worse than even an average rusher — per NFL Next Gen Stats, Swift had -174 rushing yards over expectation last year, the worst mark by any running back in the league over the past five seasons. 8/27/25 | The Bears tried to add RBs to push D'Andre Swift — but now he stands alone. When Bears players stopped stretching Tuesday and headed off to work with their position groups, D'Andre Swift stood alone. Wednesday, Swift got one more co-worker — practice-squadder Brittain Brown practiced alongside him. Everyone else — rookie Kyle Monangai, veteran Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer, who is on injured reserve — remains hurt. The Bears went into the offseason looking to find running back help. 8/26/25 | Could Kyle Monangai be No. 2 Bears back behind D'Andre Swift?. At some point, the Bears will have actual running backs again. When they do it would seem it's Kyle Monangai who would be leaned on for carries besides starter D'Andre Swift. Maybe Roschon Johnson is destined for a role as only the short-yardage back again, if he's even on the roster. At least it seems this way to hear GM Ryan Poles. 8/25/25 | Bears down to 2 healthy RBs in practice. The Bears practiced Monday with just two healthy running backs: starter D'Andre Swift and backup Brittain Brown, whom they signed two weeks ago. The team expects Monangai, the seventh-round rookie, back somewhat soon. Source: https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2025/08/25/bear... |
