5/31/25 Pirates Make Outfield Change vs. Padres. The Pittsburgh Pirates made an important lineup change ahead of their upcoming game vs. the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Alexander Canario comes in at left field for the Pirates, taking the place of Tommy Pham, who started the series opener. Canario has had a great month of May, slashing .296/.345/.432 with 24 hits in 81 at-bats, including three doubles, a triple, two home runs, six RBIs and six walks to 27 strikeouts. This makes it 15 starts in left field this month and 21 starts in 29 games in May, as Pirates manager Don Kelly makes Canario a main stay in his outfield.

5/16/25 Pirates Bullpen Blows Lead in Loss to Phillies. The Pittsburgh Pirates held a slight lead in the later innings, but their bullpen falled to hold onto, as they lost 8-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Pittsburgh also drops to 15-30 overall and 6-17 on the road, with eight losses in their past nine games away from home. Philadelphia improves to 26-18 and 15-8 at home. The Pirates got their first real scoring opportunity in the top of the second inning, as right fielder Alexander Canario and first baseman Nick Solak, in his Pirates debut, hit back-to-back singles with one out.

5/13/25 Pirates Make Numerous Lineup Changes vs. Mets. The Pittsburgh Pirates put out a lineup with many changes from their previous one, as they face the New York Mets for the second time at Citi Field. Ji Hwan Bae takes over in center field for just his second start of the season and will hit eighth in the batting order, as he played left field and led off against the Miami Marlins on March 29. Alexander Canario moves from center field, where he started the past two games, and will go to left field. Bryan Reynolds stays in right field, but will move out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup, dropping to third.

5/03/25 Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. joins 100/100 club vs. Pirates. Less than 24 hours after taking a 93 mph fastball off the left forearm and fearing his season might be over, the Padres superstar delivered a jaw-dropping sequence that secured a 2-1 win over the Pirates and etched his name into the history books. With the score tied in the top of the ninth and rain still fresh in the air at PNC Park, Tatis opened the inning with a scorching grounder down the third base line. The 26-year-old read the outfield alignment perfectly, saw left fielder Alexander Canario shaded toward center, and turned a base hit into a hustle double. Luis Arraez grounded out, moving Tatis to third.

2/26/25 MACK - Deep Dive: Alexander Canario. The Mets sent the Cubs some moolah for once highly projected prospect, outfielder Alexander Canario. The hard-hitting outfield prospect, Alexander Canario, is in a very weird position in the Cubs' organization. On the surface, Canario had a pretty good year in Iowa, hitting 18 home runs in under 300 plate appearances while posting an isolated slugging over .270 and an overall line good for 116 wRC+.

2/23/25 Hilarious story about Pete Crow-Armstrong's number change humanizes Jed Hoyer. The Cubs president of baseball operations seems to be well-like and respected by players. Before the dust could even settle on Alexander Canario's time in the Chicago Cubs organization, his number was plucked from the ashes and donned by fellow outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

2/20/25 The Chicago White Sox should make every effort to acquire Alexander Canario. The Chicago White Sox should make every effort to acquire Alexander Canario There are a lot of questions about his overall game, but the team could use his power. By Todd Welter | Share on Facebook Share on X Copy Article Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Share on Facebook Share on X Share on Reddit Copy Article The Chicago White Sox are at the beginning stages of an extensive rebuild where the front office should be acquiring as many former highly regarded prospects cast off by their previous organizations as they can. As silly as it sounds, the Sox might still be able to find immediate long-term help if they can tap into something other teams have not. The White Sox have already brought in Owen White

2/20/25 Chicago Cubs Shockingly Designate Promising Outfielder for Assignment. The Chicago Cubs have surprised many around the league with a roster decision on Thursday morning. As first reported by Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the Cubs have designated outfielder Alexander Canario for assignment in order to make room for the recent signing on veteran infielder Justin Turner. Given Canario is out of minor league options, he would have had to either be on the 40-man roster or be DFA'd at the end of spring training regardless. Canario will almost certainly be traded over the next week rather than waived outright after he has shown serious promise in limited MLB action and in Triple-A. In 21 games for Chicago across 2023 and 2024, Canario has slashed .286/.333/.524 with two home runs and eight RBI, an admittedly small sample size but a solid one nonetheless.

2/13/25 Alexander Canario may have just checked an important box for the Chicago Cubs. One of the important yet less discussed storylines for the Chicago Cubs this season is that outfield prospect Alexander Canario is out of options. The fact Canario is already out of minor-league options despite having less than 50 plate appearances over the last two seasons speaks to the lack of plan the Cubs have had for their outfield prospect. In case you're keeping tabs, Canario has slashed .286/.333/.524/135wRC+ with 2 home runs in 45 plate appearances at the Major League level. The sample size, while small, does suggest that Canario is capable of being an effective hitter at the Major League level but the biggest reason he has gone by the wayside during his momentary stints at the the Major League level in 2023 and 2024 is the logjam the team has had in the outfield.

5/08/24 Alexander Canario's Chicago Cubs future is further in question after latest demotion. Alexander Canario is heading back down to Iowa as the Chicago Cubs brought their star slugger Cody Bellinger back from injury much sooner than expected for Tuesday night's game. Bellinger's bat is sorely needed in a lineup that has been struggling mightily to score runs of late. For Canario, however, it's another disappointing development on the road to becoming a major league regular that begs questions about whether that day will ever come with the Cubs. Since first making the majors in September of last year, the right-handed outfielder has struggled to get consistent playing time in Chicago despite becoming a respectable offensive force in the minors.
