7/18/25 Padres Notes: Friars Make Roster Move, Want All-Star Outfielder, Top Trade Target Won't Cost Much. The San Diego Padres reversed a move they made just before the All-Star break, reinstating Gavin Sheets from the paternity list and sending catcher Luis Campusano back down to Triple-A. Gavin Sheets and his wife, Kahla, welcomed their first child on Monday. Campusano played the Friars' final game before the All-Star break, striking out twice in an 0-for-3 showing. In other news, the Padres are still looking to fill the hole they have in left field, and Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr.'s name has been one which has repeatedly shown up. Robert, an All-Star in 2023, has had a down year in 2025, and the White Sox will likely ship him out as they are in full rebuild mode, per Ken Rosenthal

7/15/25 Padres' Gavin Sheets Makes Massive Announcement. The Padres could have used Gavin Sheeets in their lineup Sunday. At least Sheets had a good excuse for missing the game: He was on paternity leave. Sheets kicked off the All-Star break in enviable fashion Monday, when he posted a picture of his newborn daughter to his Instagram account. "Rhylen Taylor Sheets has arrived!" the announcement read.

7/14/25 Padres Notes: Friars Make Roster Move, Blockbuster Trade Proposal, Padres All-Star Almost Retired. The San Diego Padres lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-1, on Sunday, and fell to 52-44 as the first half of the season comes to a close. To start off Sunday, the Friars made a roster move, calling up a catcher while placing Gavin Sheets on the paternity list. There were previous inclinations from a key insider that the catcher would be called up from Triple-A; it was just a question of whether it would be before or after the All-Star Break. Additionally, the Padres have a blockbuster trade proposal that would add an outfielder with a cannon of an arm to the roster.

7/13/25 Padres place Gavin Sheets on paternity list, call up Luis Campusano. The San Diego Padres placed outfielder/designated hitter Gavin Sheets on the paternity list prior to Sunday's home game against the Philadelphia Phillies. San Diego recalled catcher Luis Campusano from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Campusano is batting seventh and serving as the designated hitter against the Phillies. Sheets can miss up to three games while on the paternity list. He'll likely just miss Sunday's game with the All-Star break beginning Monday. Sheets, 29, has been a surprise strong contributor after the Padres signed him as a free agent shortly before the start of spring training. He has 14 homers and 50 RBIs in 92 games with his career bests being 15 and 53, respectively,

7/01/25 Padres Coach Calls Surprise Player 'Above-Average' Defender. The San Diego Padres have been rumored to go after securing more outfield depth at the trade deadline, but a player who started the season on a minor league contract is now proving to give the Friars more options as to where they can add another hot right-handed bat. Gavin Sheets has emerged as more than simply a power hitter stashed away at the designated hitter spot, but is proving himself more each day in left field — a position with one of the largest question marks surrounding it in San Diego. Sheets has 11 starts at first base, 24 at left field, and 41 starts as designated hitter.
