9/04/25 Rays news: Playoff hopes dealt difficult blow as shortstop will miss rest of 2025. The Tampa Bay Rays are attempting to extend their six-game win streak as they take on the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday evening. It's been an impressive stretch for this club as they continue fighting for a potential spot in the postseason. Reports indicate that Taylor Walls, who is 29 years old, is going to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing a sports hernia surgical procedure, according to Ryan Bass of Fan Duel and News Station. Carson Williams and Tristan Gray are expected to play shortstop for the remainder of the season.

7/25/25 Rays Drop Fifth-Straight Road Game in 7-2 Loss to Reds. For a while on Friday night, things were going pretty well for the Tampa Bay Rays in their 7-2 series-opening loss against the Cincinnati Reds. The Rays enjoyed a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning after shortstop Taylor Walls drove in left fielder Christopher Morel with an RBI double, and starting right-hander Zack Littell was aggressively filling up the strike zone after surrendering a second-inning home run to Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson. The Reds scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead and make it 3-2 after Littell and the defense loaded the bases.

7/22/25 Rays' Kim Ha-seong leaves game with back injury. Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Kim Ha-seong was forced to leave his latest game with lower back tightness, yet another setback in a season already compromised by multiple injuries. Kim walked and stole second base in the bottom of the second inning against the Chicago White Sox at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida, on Monday (local time). After fielding the final out in the top of the third at shortstop, Kim did not return to the field for the fourth inning, as Taylor Walls shifted from second base to shortstop.

7/12/25 Small mistakes by Taylor Walls make big difference in Rays' latest loss. As rough as things have been going for the Tampa Bay Rays over the last couple of weeks, they have little margin for error. The Rays, after a six-week, majors-best run of 25-9, left Kansas City June 26 with a 46-35 record and were a half game off the lead in the American League East. Shortstop Taylor Walls was involved in both of Saturday's key moments.
