6/11/25 | Harris: Tigers preparing to be buyers at trade deadline; specific targets undefined. Speaking on the Tigers' flagship radio station (97.1) Wednesday morning, Tigers president Scott Harris said he expects to be a buyer at the trade deadline next month. Harris talked about taking a “pragmatic” approach toward clearly identifying weaknesses and scouring the market for players who would address those specific weaknesses. Until infielder-outfielder Matt Vierling gets back into the mix, until the pitching injury situation (with starters Reese Olson, Jackson Jobe and Alex Cobb, plus reliever Alex Lange, still out) becomes clearer, he can't completely assess where the weaknesses are. At the end of May, it looked like the Tigers were set to receive a huge boost with star utility man Matt Vierling coming off the injured list for the first time this season. 6/07/25 | Tigers outfielder gives update on injury, return to baseball activities. Detroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling's nerves spiked after it appeared he aggravated a right shoulder injury that held him out for three months, four days following his activation in May. “You go through all that rehab and everything like that, and you come back, and then all of a sudden that happens again, you get nervous,” Vierling told reporters on Saturday. Vierling, 28, strained his rotator cuff in the Tigers' second spring training game ahead of the 2025 season. It was a long rehab to get back to Detroit, going through a nearly three-week assignment in the minor leagues before rejoining the club on May 23.
