Hustle play: Late in the first quarter, Miami completed a short screen pass on 3rd & 12 at the Lions' 37-yard line to wide receiver Dee Eskridge who followed a couple blocks and broke a tackle. Al-Quadin Muhammad came all the way from his edge position on the left side to make the tackle 27 yards downfield at the 10-yard line saving a touchdown. Kevin Byard II didn't like how Dee Eskridge blocked him during one of the final red zone snaps for the Miami Dolphins' first-team offense so the Chicago Bears' starting safety grabbed the receiver's facemask and tried to snatch his helmet off. “I made sure I had him and let him know that he's a little boy,” Byard said. Shoves were exchanged, and the field was charged by both sides, especially after Dolphins center Aaron Brewer and an unidentified Bears defensive lineman exchanged punches of their own. Dee Eskridge fully understands the challenge of trying to earn a role in the Miami Dolphins offense, and he's not getting ahead of himself despite being one of the most productive wide receivers in trainining camp to this point. Eskridge is in his second season with the Dolphins but his first training camp with the team after arriving late in the preseason. The former Seattle Seahawks second-round pick is hoping to secure a spot and role in a wide receiver rotation that figures to include Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Malik Washington.
