7/29/25 What's so different about this Mets pennant race. beyond the back page What's so different about this Mets pennant race By Howie Kussoy Published July 29, 2025, 7:40 a.m. ET Mets third baseman Ronny Mauricio is congratulated by Brandon Nimmo after hitting a solo home run during a game at San Diego's Petco Park on July 28, 2025. Denis Poroy-Imagn Images Even in the best of times, the Mets rarely make things easy. The franchise's first championship in 1969 was a miracle — seven years removed from its birth as a lovable laughingstock — after coming back from a 10-game deficit to the Cubs in mid-August. Their second pennant was clinched in 1973 after Tug McGraw asked you to believe in a team that would be six games under .500 and in fifth place

7/28/25 Ronny Mauricio's big night gives Mets something to think about before deadline. Just days before the trade deadline, Ronny Mauricio made his case loud and clear. The young infielder put on a show Sunday night in San Francisco, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, a single, and a home run, driving in two runs to help the New York Mets secure their seventh straight victory with a 5-3 win over the Giants. Mauricio's performance was easily his best of the season as he consistently squared the ball up to all fields, displaying the player that fans became obsessed with in 2023 before missing all of 2024 with a torn ACL. This display not only lengthened the Mets' lineup but also created more run-scoring opportunities, adding a new dimension to an offense that has struggled to find consistency all season long.

7/19/25 Ronny Mauricio elicits boos from Mets fans following costly error. Access the Mets beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Mike Puma about the inside buzz on the Mets. Try it free The Citi Field crowd might have started in a good mood after the ceremony honoring David Wright before the game. But they certainly didn't end that way, showering boos across the final innings of a 5-2 loss to the Reds . On such episode of jeering came on what appeared to be a double play that went awry. From the way the ball left Tyler Stephenson's bat, the result seemed predictable. It would've allowed Reed Garrett, who'd just replaced Clay Holmes and inherited a first-and-third jam in the sixth inning, to escape

7/19/25 Tom Brennan: Will Alvarez Be the Next Gary Sanchez? And the Mets are Unserious. The lollygagging, lackluster, lifeless Mets better get their act together. Also, as I wrote a few days ago, Ronny Mauricio CANNOT HIT LEFTIES. Torrens can't hit, either, but he got a medal, as he managed to go 1 for 3. Any mystery why the Mets lost, then, when half the line up (I have to say it, I really do) Simply Sucks!?
