6/30/25 Astros lose Jeremy Pena to injured list with rib fracture. The Houston Astros have soared out to a 6.5-game lead in the American League West. A massive reason why is shortstop Jeremy Pena, who has broken out after two poor seasons. “Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena, who was having the finest season of his career and headed to the All-Star Game, is now headed to the IL with a rib fracture,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported.

6/28/25 Jeremy Pena Not in Lineup on Saturday, Astros Skipper Reveals His Injury Status. Another injury scare was present for the Houston Astros on Friday. More News: Could This Type of Deal Convince Astros Star To Sign Long-Term Contract? "I'm going to do everything I can to keep him away from today's game," the skipper added, with the plan being for Pena to get more treatment and go through some baseball activities. 6/24/25 Astros predicted to land award winning star as Jeremy Pena extension questions loom. Entering the 2025 MLB draft, there isn't a team in Major League Baseball that needs to improve its farm system as much as the Houston Astros. The Astros, who now find themselves in a strange position at the big league level because of the lack of talent in their farm system in recent years, truly can't let another draft go without landing big-time talents. Holding the 21st overall pick, the Astros will be in a position to add an elite talent, and there happens to be a potential award-winning player available at that spot. Just Baseball recently predicted them to land one in the form of Wehiwa Aloy, a shortstop from the University of Arkansas who recently won the Golden Spikes Award.

6/24/25 Amid His Resurgent Season, Astros Star Jeremy Pena Hires Scott Boras. One can only wonder what this year would look like for the Houston Astros without Jeremy Pena. The breakout star from the 2022 playoffs after he replaced the departed Carlos Correa and won the ALCS and World Series MVP Awards is in the midst of the best regular season of his career. Pena is also on pace to shatter his previous career-highs in home runs and RBI, finally becoming the player everyone imagined he would be when he burst onto the scene during that prolific playoff run but failed to follow that up in a substantial manner. According to FanGraphs, only two players in Major League Baseball have been more impactful than Pena, with his fWAR of 3.9 trailing just Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh, the two frontrunners for AL MVP.

6/23/25 Deadspin | Surging Astros look to stay hot against Phillies. The injury-depleted Houston Astros continued their surge up the American League standings over the weekend, setting up an intriguing six-game homestand that begins with a three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. Houston claimed the rubber match of a three-game road series with an 8-7 win against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Since dropping the final two games of a road set against the Tampa Bay Rays in mid-May, the Astros have won seven of nine series (with two splits). An integral component to their exceptional play is shortstop Jeremy Pena, who finished 2-for-5 with a home run in the series finale against the Angels for his fourth multi-hit game over his last five starts.

6/14/25 Leading AL in ERA, Astros' Hunter Brown takes on Twins. The Houston Astros have enjoyed a measure of success offensively with Jeremy Pena, Isaac Paredes and Jose Altuve occupying the top three spots in their batting order. With Paredes (hamstring strain) sidelined for the opener of a three-game series against the visiting Minnesota Twins on Friday -- Game 2 will be Saturday afternoon -- the Astros opted to keep Pena and Altuve in their respective spots and slotted Yainer Diaz into the two-hole. The results were positive, as Pena recorded a four-hit game while Altuve drove in three runs in the Astros' 10-3 victory.

5/20/25 Astros, opposing Rays, aim to extend first road win streak. With Jeremy Pena delivering from the top of the batting order, the Houston Astros will look for another win over the host Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday in the middle matchup of a three-game series. After Pena hit sixth, fifth and then fourth for the first month of the season, manager Joe Espada opted to move the 2022 Gold Glove shortstop to the top of the order on April 27. The result gave the Astros back-to-back road wins for the first time all season.
