5/23/25 Royals Promotion Of Young Outfielder 'Paying Huge Dividends'. The Kansas City Royals have cooled down a little in recent weeks, but are firmly in the postseason chase after overcoming an 8-14 start to the 2025 season. The Royals are now 28-23 and hold the third American League Wild Card spot as the month of May nears its end. The main reason the Royals find themselves in contention is their pitching staff. In fact, they made a decision to promote outfielder Drew Waters earlier this year.

4/28/25 Royals 26-Year-Old Gets Real About 'Pressure' Of Hanging Onto MLB Roster Spot. Drew Waters is hoping this opportunity in the big leagues is the one that sticks. Since making his major league debut in 2022, Royals has been recalled five times by the Kansas City Royals. Coming into the 2025 season, he'd never had lasting success at the major league level, but he's seizing this fifth opportunity so far. Through 15 games, Waters is slashing .280/.321/.480, with a home run and five RBI.

4/23/25 Why Royals Could Benefit From $50 Million Slugger's 'Trade Stock' Trending Down. It's never too early to start thinking about the Major League Baseball trade deadline, and this season, the Kansas City Royals could swing either way. The Royals are off to a 10-14 start, but they're entering an easy stretch of schedule. The most obvious spot the Royals need an upgrade is the outfield, where they're trotting out names like Drew Waters and Hunter Renfroe on a nightly basis. Maybe the best-case scenario for the Royals is for a former All-Star to keep struggling.
